Majestic Fantasy carries Team Johansson colours to success

Majestic Fantasy's relentless assault on The Oaks qualifier's continues. The filly has now competed in the required four races, winning three. The only blot on an almost perfect landscape was her seventh place behind today's runner-up Satans Wrath. That day, the going was fast over the 2200m American track, it could be considered that she doesn't handle the going as well and possibly the trip may have been a little on the short side. The evidence of today's run shows that she is not uncomfortable on a faster surface, even so, it does appear that 2400m is her bag after completing her third victory of the season at the trip. Team Johansson must be over the moon with her performances this season and she holds a clear advantage at the track this season over arch rival Queen Of Satan, last season's Classic Juvenile Final winner. At present she has a two point lead at the head of the standings and who would bet against her being there at the end of the season.

Wicked Wench was an unlucky runner in the race having been drawn wide, a position that clearly hindered her in running. The Winning Post trained filly travelled well under the mount of Wayne Bailey and despite forging a wide position throughout came well up the straight, ending up with a very respectable fourth place. Void of any wins in a first instance qualifier this season, when given the breaks of the race there is no doubt her ability will carry her home this season and the winners enclosure is just around the corner. Whether the victory will come in The Oaks is questionable as her staying prowess is her number one attribute, we are more likely to see her succeed over the St. Leger's tests of stamina.

Eye Catcher Natalia From Mosc was given the ideal run along the rails by her jockey, Sergio Ramirez. The Burkveen Racing charge came with a powerful effort late in the race and despite the line coming a little too soon, positives can be taken! She may not be ideally suited to the shorter 2200m distance of the final but like Wicked Wench she is at home over the stayers' trips, anything that she can carve out of her journey in The Oaks this season will be a bonus.

Seven horses have now completed the required four runs to qualify outright for either the final or a consolation race and four further fillies need one more run to announce their participation at the finals. Including second instances of races, there have been a total of five different winners, Majestic Fantasy as previously mentioned has three wins, Queen Of Satan, Wicked Wench, Legend Of The Sea and Shes My Girl complete the list. Interestingly, there have only been sixteen different trainers to compete in this season's qualifiers with twenty-six horses between them. Shotgun Mike has saddled seven horses in the qualifiers to date but only Satans Wrath has managed the required four runs for definite qualification.

Darley Arabian holds off late charge of Gentleman Earl

The Derby Qualifier 3YO Colts
1800m Fast

Gentleman Earl and Darley Arabian are becoming something of an institution within the qualifying ranks this season. If Gentleman Earl doesn't win the race, it is more than likely that Darley Arabian has. The pair have now met in eight races this season. The latest episode of the weekly soap opera went to Darley Arabian, half a length victor over his nemesis. Shankley Shankley a further length behind in third.

Monthly League Challenge Qualifier 2YO Fillies
2200 Muddy

The Shotgun Mike pair of Eccellenza Suecia and Elisabeth Taylor made it a fine one-two in this monthly qualifier. Both fillies showed an aptitude to the muddy conditions and strode out well to the line. Goddess Of Heaven continued her recent good form. It was a first outing on unfamiliar conditions for the Moletown filly, running third ahead of the fast finishing Lightning Monster.

Nashville Boy was subject to some frenzied bidding until the hammer went down and finally the colt was brought into the Liveoak Stables yard. Initially tested in a Monthly Challenge over 2850m at the American track, it was obvious, on that occasion the colt was certainly short of race fitness. His next visit to the races was a totally different story. With Fabio Valentino taking the ride at the English track, the colt adapted to the good conditions on the day to gain victory in what was his second attempt for honours in the monthly series. Fresh from that winning run, Liveoak Stables' black colt lined up for the Ladbrokes Challenge Final in many a trainer's eye, favourite for the race. Jacob Forrester took the ride and the colt ended up taking fourth place in an excellent curtain raiser to the challenge races this season, eventually going down by one and a half lengths to Emprise To Avalon. Ultimately, the horse’s main seasonal goal will be the Stayers Juvenile Challenge Final and although not yet unleashed, Nashville Boy should be on every trainer's "One To Follow" list.

Gallipoli Prince has been the second most expensive auction purchase in the juvenile ranks this term. Snapped up by Gissys Nags the bay colt made his debut in a Monthly League Challenge Qualifier finishing a distance last over 2400m. He could be excused that run and immediately bounced back to show his ability when taking his next qualifier in style. The future of the horse looks rosy and he is bound to push Nashville Boy all the way for honours this term.

Veandercrosse was the star attraction of a three horse package purchased for over £500 by Sky Castle Stables in August. He made a winning debut to his career in a recent full field Monthly League Challenge Qualifier, striding to a sweet victory in the hands of Wayne Bailey over 2400m in the mud at Dubai. His auction price may look a bargain on reflection but he was clearly worth a lot more and judging by what the other horses in the deal have achieved thus far, he could be considered a far more valuable purchase. Andover Express was another to find his way to the yard. After two races in graded stakes without success, the bay found extra when the chips were down in a Monthly League Challenge Qualifier, finishing fourth behind shock winner and 58/1 shot, Memory Of Cole.

Eyes Of Medusa is winding up for a shot at a final. Her two runs to date have yielded a second and ninth place in monthly qualifiers. She is a steady filly over the classic distance whose main aim this season will be to contest the juvenile final at the end of the season. If she stays 2400m she might have a chance in the Ladbrokes at the end of the month. Island Diva will also be looking to run in that final. She has run eight times this season since her transfer to the Divine Diva Stables, winning once and only failing to make the frame on two occasions. The free spending yard also brought in Kamikraziee who recently completed back to back success in Classic Juvenile company. It appears that this horse will now hit the graded scene after completing a four-timer in a progress juvenile race.
