That was not boring horse auction according to Moletown!

The Auction Review - This Was No Boring Auction!

Hammer Down - Sunday 6th November 2011

The lack of early entries into the auction, prompted DerekW10 to post comment. He was adamant when he declared that, "Got a feeling this is going to be a boring auction!" The yard may have been correct by the slow take up on entries but boy was this no boring auction. Tracking the bidding at 9.10am, there were still eight or so horses attracting bids, some of which carried forth for at least another five to ten minutes. Amongst them were some serious horses. You might be fooled by thinking that the quality of animal would drop off so late in the season and to some extent it did. Numbers were certainly down for entries but this only serves the bidding public with more focus on the animals they want to bring to their yard. It stands to reason that hammer prices would fall a little short of what could be expected in early season auctions. However, despite a drop in hammer prices, the auction was a flurry of activity and you know how the saying goes, "There are bargains to be had in them horses!" The order of the day seemed to be purchases for the future as it might be expected that little impact could be made by the challenge class juvenile with so little time to shine. That might be the case but with a level weight three year old campaign ahead of them, quality will always attract the best of trainers.

Previous Yard : Green Farm Racing
New Yard : Shotgun Mike

Running Fortune : £800.00 ~ After just one run following her purchase at the sale preceding this one, Green Farm Racing has certainly made a quick buck. The classic filly clocked up a nice win first time out for her new yard but found herself immediately back in the auction at a far higher premium than her original purchase price. Green Farm may have taken something of a gamble when buying her but it appears that the gamble was well worth it. She is certainly a very good filly and is not without a chance in this seasons' classic final, should she get in, even with a weight penalty. Despite her ability and possible classic charge this term, she may have been purchased with The Oaks in mind and under level weight racing she should be very competitive next season. One thing is certain though, Green Farm Racing have done extremely well out of the horse and at the price paid, so too has the champion, although I think he may be kicking himself not to have picked her up first time round for far less.

Previous Yard : Victoria Stables
New Yard : DerekW10

Godolphin : £645.75 ~ Derek has bought a potential Derby champion in the form of Godolphin. It's too late for this one and any other unraced classic hopeful to get into the final this season but this one will certainly be pushing for a consolation race and may even look to secure a couple of wins by the season end. Next season will see the pinnacle race of virtual horse racing visit America's dirt track and the distance of 2200m will suit this one down to a tee, fast ground being a major positive. The horse will act on all sound surfaces and will give a good account of himself next season without doubt. The only thing that may be a negative is the amount of quality colts he will be up against. The price was about right for an animal of his quality so late in the day, which was obviously affected due to his lack of final opportunity.

Previous Yard : Garvin Stud
New Yard : Shotgun Mike

Cozmic Monumentum : £645.75 ~ If I were looking to head up a major charge at next season's Derby, I would have considered buying this one as well as Derek's, ensuring I have the going of the final covered. Unlike Derek's fast animal, this one will love a bit of sticky underfoot conditions and for the same price, everything looks so familiar. Both horses have opened their accounts in style and no doubt both will be running in the qualifier this weekend. I guess you could say that you if you had bought both horses it would have been a case of buy one get one free, as I firmly believe if they were sold early season, the final hammer price on both would have been far greater. It will certainly be worth tracking their career to see if they do lock horns as potential Derby champions, I predict they will but only one of them will get their favoured going, which one will it be?

Previous Yard : Clairesville
New Yard : Bury New Road

Tonys Superstar : £417.80 ~ Bury New Road has bought a horse here that is positioned nicely for a charge at the sprint crown. The black filly is one of only four horses that currently hold a top fourteen berth, that will run off the minimum weight. Her ability over 1600m is very nice indeed and she is no slouch at the 1400m distance either. I'm not sure whether she is top class at this distance, although she can probably hold her own against top level performers, especially with a two pound pull in tow. I like this purchase by Ryan, mainly because it shows the direction in which his yard is going. It signals that he is not afraid to mix it with the big boys and wouldn't this be a bit of shrewd business, should she lift the title.

Previous Yard : Duffers Nags
New Yard : Shotgun Mike

Cozmic Skullcrack : £350.00 ~ A nice enough colt that attracted solid attention at the sale. Maybe this was due to an imminent 1600m challenge campaign. Time trials for this one showed up well enough over the distance, however, I don't think I would have been paying such a fee for what you were getting. It's possible that I have misread the ability of this one and that the buyer has seen something that I haven't but I get the general feeling he will be good for a few qualifying wins. There are horses who will no doubt act better than him over 1600m, which makes him a tentative choice to be a strong enough contender in the Ladbrokes. Or am I mistaken into thinking that the bar may not be as high for this months campaign. Whatever the end result, you can safely say that the new owner will know exactly what is needed to turn a profit on the horse, which is all that counts in this competitive virtual world we live in!

Previous Yard : Divine Diva Stables
New Yard : Sky Castle Stables

Goondiwindi Grey : £203.15 ~ There seems to be a lot of fun involved when buying an unraced juvenile from the yard theses days. More often than not, they are ready to come to your yard with nearly all other goings, other than good ground, to try. Usually, there is also something in the trials that some may look past and this colt could certainly be one of them horses. Although displaying fine trials over longer sprint trips, I am almost certain that this colt will prove his worth over the minimum distance and he may even be up there with the very best that the virtual world has to offer. It is such a difficult trip to get to grips with, bargains are a plenty and if I am right about this one, the purchase price is cheap at half the price.

Become a virtual racing star in the Hollywood Cup!

Become a virtual racing star in the Hollywood Cup!

If you need some excitement in your life then you need to enter RaceClubs.com’s Hollywood Cup.

The storyline goes like this: you enter your horses into the Hollywood Cup races and they could be nominated to win either £75.60 (G1), £40.95 (G2) or £9.45 (G3) depending upon which grade they race. But the real story behind the scenes is that you and respected jockey, Roxana Castro, are going to make a winning team if you start preparing for the Hollywood Cup today!

Did you know that Roxana Castro is Geraldine Sullivan's long-lost evil twin sister who underwent a sex-change operation to escape her ex-lover, who was a drug-lord planning to harvest Roxana's organs for sale on the black market for money so he could re-kindle his passionate romance with Linda, but, Geraldine was no longer interested in pursuing a career as a drug mule so she decided to start racing the mules in your stable- and that's when Roxana returned and announced that he (or she) was now a man (or woman). Geraldine forgave Roxana (not sure for what) but Roxana still harbors resentment because Geraldine is a better jockey.

All this and more makes for exciting races with dramatic endings and dignified winnings in RaceClubs.com’s all day
Hollywood Cup racing on the 19th November 2011. Awards will be paid on the 22 November 2011

Next week: Geraldine and Roxana disclose their future Championship aspirations- on your horses!!!

Only in Hollywood, and RaceClubs.com

Yearlings bought today win their Maiden Championships faster tomorrow!!!

Yearlings Sale

The Yearling Sale is RaceClubs.com’s biggest sale of the season- and it starts today!

Yearlings are the best financial investment any trainer, who is serious about virtual horse racing, can make when it comes to building a competitive stable. Yearlings get a head start on their training, so they’re ready to race from the first day of the new season, and they get it free! You can start training them as 1 year olds today so they’re ready to race as 2 year olds next month.

You want your yearlings ready to race from the first day of the new season because the Race Programmer has created an ultra-exciting, ten-day racing extravaganza worth £1,738.80 just for next season’s 2 year olds- they're also going to need a supplementary fee!

You also get to enjoy that extra month training your yearlings for free because their first stabling fee will only be due in January 2011, e.g. a yearling bought on 12 November 2011 won’t have a stabling fee due on 12 December 2011, then if still unraced thereafter it will have a £1.26 stabling fee due on 12 January 2011.

Technically, this means you get to keep your yearlings for free: yearlings eat for free, train for free, and sleep for free on RaceClubs.com. That’s because you should spend as much time training your yearlings until they drop because next season they are going to be kept on their hooves running in some of the most competitive races ever seen on RaceClubs.com!

RaceClubs.com’s Yearling Sale begins in the sales ring and ends with you in the winner’s circle!

Yearling Sale Details:
- Yearlings will be available from 00:01 GMT on 9 November 2011 until 23:59 GMT on 30 November 2011.
- The sales ring defaults to 2Y horses, remember to select the 1Y horse.
- Yearlings have the same ability that they will have as 2Y horses.
ie. Ageing from 1 to 2 years has no effect on the horses’ ability.
- Yearlings are trained against 2Y training horses to gauge their abilities as a 2Y horse.
- Yearlings become 2Y horses on the first day of the new season.
- Yearlings can only enter races as 2Y horses in the new season.
- Racing, Claiming, and Auctions are only available for horses aged 2-7 years.
- Yearlings can be bought with bonus credits or cash, but using cash can get you some extra free horses.

Remember, remember the 5th of November! Its #Guy Fawkes weekend!

Fawkes is sometimes referred to as "the only man ever to enter Parliament with honest intentions".

We wish we could say that about the Race Programmer but then he was never going to be a serious political contender considering his unhealthy obsession with vice, but, he does enjoy bonfires, fireworks and festivals so a Guy Fawkes celebration was right on track with his race programming agenda for the 5th November.

Guy Fawkes originated in 1605 when the people were encouraged to celebrate the foiled attempt to assassinate the king. An act was even passed by the British parliament to remember the day as a day of thanksgiving. Although there were 13 conspirators in the plot to kill the king, “Guy Fawkes” is the man most synonymous with the foiled attempt. His effigy was made from old newspapers, clothes and tossed onto a bonfire; ironically, these effigies have also come to resemble the Pope, Margaret Thatcher and even the Race Programmer.- and anyone else who displeases the British people.

Rather than risk displeasing anyone, the Race Programmer has sponsored two Guy Fawkes WFA races with £63.00, where you can burn your horses into the ground to enjoy your share of fireworks, excitement and added stakes sponsorship.

All you need to do find Guy Fawkes on the 5th November 2011.

“Remember, remember the fifth of November!”

Horse racing gets the Shotgun Mike Millionaire races this weekend!

Congratulations to Shotgun_mike on winning his first $1,000,000 on RaceClubs.com!

Shotgun_mike is officially the first virtual millionaire RaceClubs.com. His story is no different from anyone else who joined RaceClubs.com, registered their stable, trained their first free horse and literally started racing his horses into the winners circle, and now, a whole new level of racing in the millionaire’s circle.

Admittedly, it wasn’t quite that easy because every trainer knows how much skill is involved in creating a winning stable but you have to admit that Shotgun_mike did it with class and style. He’s won 20% of his 64,248 races, including 46 Challenge Series titles. One is almost tempted to rename a Challenge Series in his honor, he’d win it anyway, but he remains one of RaceClubs.com’s most modest players despite his supernatural accomplishments. Shotgun-mike is one trainer who lets his horses do the talking while he remains even more elusive than a top jockeys.

RaceClubs.com is celebrating Shotgun_mike’s victory this weekend in the Shotgun_mike Millionaire Races. It’s a weekend of celebratory races that were named in Shotgun_mike’s honor, and everyone is invited to join; not because we want to help Shotgun_mike make another million, but because we hear it gets lonely at the top and RaceClubs.com is nothing if not committed to creating the most dynamic community of virtual horse racers ever seen on the planet. And to think, just like you, Shotgun_mike’s journey began with a free horse from the Sales Ring, so you might have even more in common with Shotgun_mike that you think- except that he has $1,000,000, and you don’t!

For every horse you race in the Shotgun_mike Millionaire races you could be one of TEN lucky stables will be entered into a lucky draw to win $50- hopefully it will be the kick start your stable needs towards winning your first million dollars on RaceClubs.com, where anyone can achieve financial freedom and virtual success through hard training, competitive racing and lucrative sponsorships.

We’d like to congratulate Shotgun_mike on behalf of the virtual horse racing community on winning his first million- and wish him every possible success on his second million.

Regards
The RaceClubs.com Team

BTW: The Race Programmer didn’t want to “cheapen the dignity” of this momentous occasion by just sponsoring a few races with a few bonus credits so we’re taking them from Shotgun_mike instead. We hope you enjoy spending them! All Shotgun_mike Millionaire races are G1 on the 5th & 6th November, 2011.

No horsing around on Raceclubs.com's new leaderboards for horses!

Leading Horses Now On The Board

The Leaderboards for Stables has been up for a little over 3 weeks now. Feedback on them has been fantastic!

When they were introduced it was announced that we are working on something similar for Horses too – Their time has come as today we will be introducing the Leaderboards for Horses.

This latest advent to the game makes the old format game leaderboards somewhat redundant as the new ones do everything the previous ones did but with much more functionality. So out with old and in with the new, as we replace them in the navigation bar in the coming weeks.

Work on a third phase is already underway. Amongst a few handy tools, we are looking at adding the option to save boards you have filtered on for later reference, an option to make them available for others to see and to incorporate horses that you follow.

There’s no doubt that the new leaderboards are a nifty new tool!
