Championship Series StandingsGoldikova moved up into sixth place in the standings for the final of the Newbury Sprint. Keeping the weight off in these events is paramount to horse's chance of Championship success. With another two pounds added to the already penalised filly, the question has to be asked if the filly will have too much to do in the final. From a favourable wide draw, the filly absolutely motored from halfway to collar long time leader and front runner, Sachalin. The Team Johansson filly was competing in her fourth outing in the series to ensure qualification. Third placed Snowbird in the colours of Queen Bee was another to make it to the magical fourth race. Last Seasons Nunthorpe runner-up has had a difficult season. The early part of the season must have seemed a lifetime for the trainer as this talented filly failed on numerous occasions to land that all important fifth win for eligibility into the series. Once secured it has been all-in for the qualifiers with some very consistent performances. She is surely one of the contenders to raise the trophy at the end of the season and her trainer can now sit back knowing she has done enough so far this term to at least be there. Championship leader Sunline (NZ) sits on forty-five points but didn't fair as well as stable mate Firing Up, who put in a strong finish to make fourth place and complete the result.
