The event is a celebration of both the past year and the upcoming NewYear and unites families and communities. One of the oldest customs is that everyone, from youngest to oldest, must partake of Tusu, an alcoholic beverage made of rice and medicinal herbs which are believed to guard against pestilence, misfortune and illness and even prolong longevity.
