Poetic license for melodic Moletown All I can say is that I hope those who entered the most recent View from the stands competition put as much work into the poems on your Valentine’s Day cards as you did in your entries! I was gob-smacked by the quality of the poems, songs and ditties penned, excellent stuff. Now some felt uncomfortable writing loving words specifically for the race programmer with most assuming the person in question is a male. I’ve heard rumors, from Diane Hall so blame her if I’m wrong, that the programmer is an extremely masculine looking female! Anyway it gives me great pleasure to announce that Moletown’s tune (sung to the air of Daisy, Daisy) takes the £10 in bonus credits. If you missed it here it is: RP, RP give me a race, grade 2. The forum's half crazy over the work you do. It isn't too much to ask, It's not a difficult task. So take the hint, Put in a stint, The current RP is poo. Moletown points out that the ditty is “tongue in cheek”, an apt phrase to use on February 14th! Well done Moletown and to all those who took the time to enter the competition. You should all get together and set up a greeting card company! Sensational shotgun mike breezes past 10,000 winners mark When politicians and economists talk about the levels of national debt or the bail-outs handed to banks the figures mentioned are so massive they seem to make little sense. It feels as though somebody is taking a game of monopoly a bit too far. And in many ways I think shotgun_mike is in the same boat. I usually sing the achievements of those who pick up 50 or 100 wins in View from the stands. The fact that shotgun_mike has now sprinted past the 10,000 winners mark is almost as hard to fathom. If you blink you miss about ten of his winners on a daily basis! Shotgun_mike has had almost 51,000 races at the time of writing. By the time I finish this sentence that’s likely to have shot up as well! I’m sure a lot of money has been spent to achieve such amazing results but the prize winning figure of £561,685 is jaw-dropping. There are no words to explain such a brilliant achievement except…well….brilliant! What a difference a few days make…………. Pat from the Dalton’s Donkeys stable wrote last Wednesday of his beloved Arsenal.. “We were magic tonight, bring on the Nou Camp” and to be fair you were right Pat. But then four days later the Premiership giants are held 1-1 at Leyton Orient! What a difference a few days make! Happy birthday Hill Park yard On Valentines Day Zak from the Hill Park yard was nestling up to his PC. Why? Well because not only does he have warm feelings for Raceclubs but also it was his first birthday on the site. Zak wrote “In my first year I got 179 winners and nearly four grand in prize money. It probably cost me five grand in nominations but I’m learning from my mistakes and enjoying the game. A big thanks to Unconte stable for advice when l started out and Gary from the flying fillies stable for his advice and tips”. Hope you enjoyed the birthday celebrations Zak. If you’re ever bitten by a horse.. One day a stable owner went to check on his favourite colt. He was in for a shock, and as he opened the stall door, he saw the horse was rabid and foaming at the mouth. It went for him, and very quickly, gave him a nasty wound on the arm. His wife left to call 999, and when she got back she found him writing furiously. She told him that there was no need to make out his will, because they had a cure for rabies. He looked at her blankly and said, "Will? What will? I'm making a list of people I'm going to bite."Biography: Graham is the sports editor of the Irish Post newspaper in London and has been a broadcast and print journalist for the last eight years working in the U.K., Australia and in his native Ireland.
