Where you are from & what do you do?
I'm from a town in England called Evesham, although I am now an adopted Londoner (Eastender) as I have been living there since the early nineties, for me living in London is special because everything is on your doorstep as there is so much to see and do.
Alan Brotherton at Niagra fallsI decided to take a career break and travel around Greece and Italy for a while after being made redundant from my last job where I worked for five years as a City Guardian, which was patrolling the streets in Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus, the job consisted of a very wide range of things from finding and reporting street problems like broken pavements to working with the Police on solving anti-social behaviour in the area, to helping tourists, I am about to start looking for a new job shortly after taking 6 months off. How do you enjoy spending your leisure time?
I'm a Tottenham Hotspur supporter and like to watch them, occasionally I go to the races at Sandown Park, Kempton Park, Epsom, Windsor and Plumpton, I also like to go to heavy metal concerts, travel and eating out. What’s your favorite time of day / year?
My favourite time of the year is the spring, when you know that the winter is over and you are looking forward to a long hot summer and holidays. What your happiest memory?
Difficult to single out one specifically, although I would have to say swimming with Dolphins in Cuba would be right up there. What is your biggest dream?
Football ; Tottenham Hotspur to win the European Champions League.
Personally ; To have enough money not to have to work, so that I could travel to as many countries as possible to see as much of the world as I can. Are you a good cook / what’s your favorite meal / drink?
I don't spend a lot of time cooking, although I try to eat as healthy as I can, I eat mainly plain old English Food although when I am on holiday I like to try some of the local dishes, my favourite drink is lager when I am out and Water or Tea when at home, sometimes the odd bottle of Wine. What’s your favorite color / item of clothing?
I don't have a favourite colour, my favourite items of clothing are probably designer shirts I have bought whilst on my travels and my 2 pairs of Boots that I have had repaired about 50 times. What was your favorite subject in school?
The Sports lessons by far especially Football. What’s your favorite horse racing event?
The Grand National and Cheltenham Festival Meetings.
What’s your favorite historical event?
Tottenham Hotspur winning the League Challenge, as it was before I was born. What’s your best tip for saving the environment?
Get a bag for life when out shopping and don't use plastic bags. What’s your favorite song / book / television show / movie?
Song ; lots and lots of favourites, anything by Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Dio, Meat Loaf, Black Sabbath etc. I could go on.
Book ; anything by Stephen King.
Television Show ; Match of the Day.
Movie ; The Green Mile. Who’s your favorite television show / movie / actor / actress / writer?
Actors ; Tom Hanks and John Hurt.
Actress ; Sienna Miller and Sandra Bullock.
Writer ; Stephen King. What’s your biggest indulgence?
Chocolate. What’s the best / worst thing you’ve heard about yourself?
On Raceclubs ; the best thing was praise for winning races, the worst thing was being criticised for putting a horse in a claimer and a certain trainer saying I didn't know what I was doing. What’s the one thing nobody knows about you?
I used to be in a racehorse owners syndicate way back in the early nineties called Group 1 Racing, which is still going strong to this day and on my birthday we had a horse called King William which was ridden by Richard Dunwoody that was very good around Huntingdon over hurdles, it was a Wednesday afternoon and I was the only one of the Syndicate who attended, I had a large bet on the horse and he won. What charity / cause do you feel most passionately about?
I'm not involved with any charity, although I have worked for dog charities in the past. What’s your favorite part of virtual horse racing?
Winning Races. If you won the lotto… Give up work permanently, spend a lot of time travelling around the world on holidays, buy a mansion in the countryside, buy a few race horses and live a life of luxury, I still haven't checked my ticket yet from last night.
