Last Season's Final

This Season's Contenders

Horse : Island Diva

Island Diva lacks the given quality to make an impression in this race. Her five wins this season have crippled her even more. A long shot by any stretch of the imagination! She can look forward to next season but for this race, I have to pass.

Moletown's Rating :

Horse : Diamond Class
Trainer : Celtic Bhoys

Her second place behind, I'm Rushin, in the Ladbrokes Monthly Final, on paper looks a very good line of form. You can't take that away from the horse but in behind there was Estremo Esplosivo, who was crippled by the random in that race. Celtic Bhoys will be hoping that Diamond Class runs a similar race in this final but I am not overly confident that we will see the same outcome and it is more than possible that a reversal of form is on the cards. Diamond Class is not out of this race by any means and still holds fair claims and although I can't see the horse winning the race, she may sneak a place.

There were many eyebrows raised when Hodge House cashed in a monstrous amount at auction for I'm Rushin and who could blame him for being so surprised. He sold at exactly the right time, when the auction madness had begun. She did win the Ladbrokes Monthly but has since proved difficult to win with since the change in yard. That said, she is not a bad horse but this final is graced with better and her penalty will inevitably catch her out. A midfield position is not beyond her capabilities but winning? Well, that is out of the question.

Moletown's Rating :

Trainer : Deepbluesea

Here we go! The first of the heavyweight championship contenders. She may be grey in colour but it could be a very bright day for the Deepbluesea yard when this lot go to post. She has cruised into the final and probably in second gear. When the chips are down and the starter lets them go, expect this one to be firing on all cylinders. She is class! There is no mistaking that. When fully wound up she will be a handful for any staying filly and this race could be over, as soon as it has began. She is not a certain favourite though, as I think Regency Blaze will have something to say about that but the pair are surely in for an interesting match-up. Put her on your shortlist, we could see something special!

Horse : Formal Bid
Trainer : Wrs Stables

The yard have managed to buy, train and get her qualified into this final, all within the space of a month. This late filly hasn't had a lot of racing and may hold each-way claims in the race. It is difficult to sum up just exactly the filly stands with her adversaries in this race but if I know the team, then she is not in this final just to make up the numbers. It's easy though to say that she has a chance in the race, and why not! She has shown consistent form over 2850m and despite her inexperience, there is nothing to suggest that she can't do well in this final. I think a run to her ability will see her do ok.

Moletown's Rating :

Horse : Dilly Dally
Trainer : Shotgun Mike

I think that when Dilly Dally was bought at auction, it wasn't for her title aspirations. The yard have this uncanny knack of turning in a nice profit from a fair priced challenge contender and she has already proven there is money to be made with her after landing a recent qualifier. I'm not expecting great things from her in this final and her incurred penalty may act against her but I am sure that the filly will turn a nice profit for the yard, regardless of what happens in this race.

Trainer : Burkveen Racing

Lightning Burk's chance in this final rests solely with how well she performs in the Classic Challenge Final. If she is fortunate enough to win that race, then the penalty could be too severe for her to land a blow in this race. If on the other hand she fails in her quest to land the classic, then her chances increase significantly here. There is no doubting her class and she is as happy on a classic trip as much as she is on a marathon trip. She must be considered worthy of a tilt at this title based on her current standing. I'm not sure she can concede weight to the likes of Blaze and Gal but she remains on the shortlist. Excellent claims in both classic and stayers races.

Esplosivo is not far off in terms of ability and would relish a chance to tackle these on firm ground. Her form is solid and she has probably raced below her optimum race levels when qualifying. If it weren't for a terrible random in the Ladbrokes Monthly Final that I'm Rushin won, she could be coming to this final, already a champion. All that aside, her claim in this race depends more on the going on the day than most and if she is granted her best conditions, she will stretch this field to the max. She holds good claims, stronger than most in the race and has to be considered as a knocking each-way bet. She can win; but will she? She gets my vote if it is firm, if it isn't, well, you decide!

Trainer : Stable 76

Yolanda Be Cool's chance in this race may have been scuppered by her recent victory in a stayers handicap race. Her win here may be an indication as to how she is likely to perform in this race and her trainer hinting that he doesn't consider her to be a threat in this final. It wouldn't surprise me to see this filly race above expectation but it is difficult to see her winning in this field.

Trainer : Liveoak Stables

Le Petit Blanc has done nothing wrong in her racing this season. She has competed with consistency and has provided her trainer with some payback on the auction price he paid. She will race with a penalty but a two pound hinderance doesn't seem unfair to her chance here. It will be a difficult task for her to land this race but she is capable of making the frame. Her yard have the knowledge to execute the best from their horses and maybe she will turn up on the day all boosters firing.

Moletown's Rating :

Horse : Regency Blaze
Trainer : Miami Vice

Nobody wanted her at auction when Miami Vice was interested in selling and that could be a Godsend. She is without doubt an extremely classy staying filly. She will contest the Classic Final, in which she is not beyond putting in a good effort, however, this is her mantle. She deserves to be here and would be a deserved winner of the race. There is not a lot to split her and Kierens Gal, which may force a magnificent spectacle of a race upon us. The yard has never tasted challenge success and this filly is probably the one to break that cycle. I cannot split her and Gal and the race will probably be won by which horse acts on the conditions, on the day. Nevertheless, she is worthy of a five star rating and I make the pair joint favourites for the race.

Moletown's Rating :

Horse : Rozalla
Trainer : Hodge House

Rozalla will be representing Hodge House in this final and were it not for the sale of I'm Rushin, the yard could have had two finalists. She will carry a light weight in the final and that may be the best chance she has of making an impression. I just feel that she is slightly below most of this field in terms of quality and she may struggle to go the pace in the latter stages of the race.

On the last day of qualification, Empress Gigantico did just enough to secure her berth in this final. Her last three visits to the track have been sub standard when you look at the form but this is mainly down to her being bagged. Ignore her at your peril! She is classy and will give this field a run for their money. Her run in the Ladbrokes Monthly Final behind Eyes Of Medusa was very nice indeed, despite just missing out on a place. She will have no problem with the trip and could be the one to rain on Blaze and Gal's party. She is more than a lively contender, in fact, I will go as far to say that if the pair fail, she will be the one to capitalise.

Moletown's Rating :

Trainer : Queen Bee

Flashing Cobra has run consistent enough this season but has not set the fillies ranks alight. She will come into the final with a penalty and it is difficult to make a claim for her chances based on her form to date. A consolation race may have been a better option for the filly and I guess by her lack of entry into the series, her trainer had hoped for that to happen. Unfortunately, she made it into the final by virtue of a better qualifying performance, ahead of Climax from the Clarkies Stable. Her chance in this race is slim.
