Everyone preparing to get their horses lined up for Raceclubs' Challenge Series knows that as each day passes they move ever closer to crowning the one elite horse a champion. One thing is for sure, the days will eventually pass, unlike a flawed England football team set-up, who found the only pass in their world cup adventure was the first four letters of their travel document. As one championship of the world concludes, so the tick-tock of clock watching begins again when RaceClubs.com celebrates its own world championship of virtual racing. The Challenge Series three day festival and World Challenge Day at the end of this month will draw this season to a close and inevitably excite and light up the virtual fraternity.
With every day comes a new challenge for trainers as they hunt down the vital points that will elevate their nags into championship top fourteen positions. Some will succeed, where others will fail and ultimately settle for the consolation race. There is absolutely no doubt that the quality of races that grace the challenge series finals is second to none and this season will be no exception. The best of the very best will parade and show off their ability in search of the ultimate prize. The pain and torture of anticipation will torment their connections for the duration of this month, but, when all is said and done, the horses will be saddled, their trainers, nervous with excitement can do no more, it's all about horse and jockey, their owners armed with binoculars in the hope that it all comes together on race day, when champions will be crowned!
We will witness some very special horses go hoofs-up for success over the three day festival and it is only fitting that each and every stalwart of the 2010 Championship be honoured in the only way I know, by writing about them. If legends are to be remembered at RaceClubs.com and legacies proclaimed, horse and trainer will be immortalised and etch their names in virtual history for all to delight in. Although it's not all about the winners! Horses and trainers, alike, will be experiencing the first time rush. A time to revel in your achievement and dwell on what a challenge success can do for your stable. Win or lose, it is an overwhelming sense of satisfaction to see your stable stars trotting to the start for the race that can change everything. I for one found myself with the butterfly fluttering and beads of sweat trickling from my pores, counting the minutes and seconds to gates opened. For it was my first taste of Challenge Finals at seasons' end. I loved it and hunger for more, not so much happening for me this season but maybe next season will be different!
The success of the challenge series has been epitomised over the years by the continued belief RaceClubs.com has in their season's climax. The prize funds on offer are, in comparison to the cost of a horse, quite remarkable! Where else on the internet can you bask in success watching something you have nurtured, even if, as my wife says, "it's a cartoon horse” Whether it's a cartoon horse or not, we get attached to them and hold some in such high regard we become nothing short of mesmerised by their willing to run, their competitive spirit, even putting them on pedestal's with God-like status. Whatever the race, whoever the horse, it is always a delight to be a part of the series and long may it continue in the manner we have been accustomed to. Yes, a change is afoot, for better or worse is every trainer's prerogative to decide. Regardless of the fact, my appreciation for the challenge series begins with this article and will end when the last horse crosses the line on the final evening. Luckily for us all it will all resume again with a new season, August 1st. The Challenge Finals clock just doesn’t stop ticking!
So, what can you expect from myself when it comes to articles for the challenge series, I hear you cry. Well, is every horse involved in the pinnacle of virtual racing beyond mention, absolutely not! Are the big stables fearful of the new player raining on their parade, absolutely not! I'd say they would hold high admiration for the first time winner and praise the horse that runs a big race. To me the challenge series is my opportunity to encapsulate everything great when it comes to virtual racing. The high's and low's will be documented, whoever you are, if you're in the challenge series, you're in my articles, there's no escaping the words of Moletown!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my articles. For me it's all about the community and without you, my articles would fall on blind eyes. Yes, there has been some controversy and maybe some may not have agreed with the subject matter at times this season. I have had to bite the bullet and realise that I have a made a mistake, albeit rare but, I live by the sword and will always hold my hand up if there is any wrongdoing. I love this game and hope that the game, as well as its members race on for many more seasons. Let the battle commence!
