A yielding track and marathon distance will greet all comers in this race. The St. Leger is an intriguing affair this term with many live chances in the race it serves to throw up one of the most competitive races of this season's challenge finals. Many of these would have faced each other in last season's Stayers Challenge Juvenile Final. Last season saw Glorious Creature victorious and the Stardust Racing colt looks to add to that title. The 3200m will test this horse more than most and the general feeling amongst the racing fraternity is that he won’t stay. There are a few other's in the race that will face an uphill climb and could be considered as non stayers or horses that are subject to show a total dislike to the going.

Atomic Symphonia comes into the race with zero positives to mention about conditions. The horse has never run over the marathon trip before and couple that with the fact that it has never even ran a race in his career on yielding, the omens for this one don't look good. In comparison the Heinz trained, Salt Of The Earth would be given a chance on the going should this race be shorter as he has no notable form over the extended 3200m. He may have a small chance of a good run in the race and that looks like the best we can expect of him. Incidelle and Sapphire Insignia will really need the parting of the red sea and all the jockeys to dismount entering the straight to have any chance of a place let alone the win. The two look out of their depth here and conditions have not made things better for them. The best of the chances from the Shotgun Mike yard may lie with We're Gonna Rock. Conditions are ok and the distance not an issue so a fair run is expected.

Framley Farm struggled right down to the wire with Meagher and only just managed to scrape into the final. He has a few things in his favour but there may be a different level of class for him to overcome in the race and can expect a place at best. Apache Down is another who can take positives into the race. His form over shorter distances on yielding ground is evident and should he capture that form over the 3200m distance then he has a live chance in the race. Stable mate Sweep The Gold would have hoped for drier conditions. His form over a good and firm surface is very good indeed and he comes here with no runs in his career on yielding. The race conditions uncertain and this one may be best watched.

Despite the negatives in the race there are many who have an above average chance of lifting the title. Maximum Bet will stay well and appears to have no issue with conditions under foot but he may find the pace a little too hot to handle. Nevertheless with a good run can figure. Latin Glory is of similar mould and like many of these runners he would have already run a challenge final earlier in the week and fitness could be the telling factor. His run in The Derby will determine his chance here. Screaming Jet will also run in an earlier consolation race but this is his main target. Winning form is held on yielding for this one over 2850m and should he step up on that over the extended distance then there is absolutely no reason why this horse cannot shine for Formally DVDMAN. The one they all have to beat is The Jack Man. The conditions are perfect for this consistent stayer. Wins have been plenty over distance and going in his career to date and he will be firing on all cylinders to take this one. This could quite possibly be the best chance that the stable have this season of securing a championship victory.

What The Trainers Say...

......"St Leger for him is a no go. He doesn't get 3200m!"......Stardust Racing

......"Took me a while to figure out he was better than I thought and only supped him with the help of bonus credits in June. First final so really happy with that. Track is perfect and seems fine with 3200, Good ground would be a huge plus and Charlie a godsend ! Serious though, on Good ground with a kind random .. I'd be hopeful.".......Framley Farm
