Moletown's $50 Head2Head Tocohnas Vs Thesidleyspanker Who will get your vote? So the first Head2Head challenge between Tocohnas and Thesidleyspanker has finally come to an end. Both trainer's have shown a winning mentality in the four week period that has brought us to this conclusion. All that needs to be done is for you, the community, to judge their achievement and success at the RaceClubs.com track and base your final decision as to who should get the $50 in bonus credits. But before you decide, here's a little round-up of what both stables have accomplished.
During the challenge, Tocohnas has proved that he is comfortable racing his yard across all spectrums of the game, from rated racing to G1 and has recorded success in every arena. His overall performance over the past four weeks has seen him establish himself within the top twenty trainer's list of earnings, currently sat in eighteenth place. A vast proportion of his earnings have come via graded and claimer races. 154 runs has yielded a return of £929.34 at an average return to runner of £6.03 with 59 placed and 36 winners. If you break that down into a win percentage, the returned figure is 26% and by any standard this is a very tasty number. A total of 64% of his nominations in these two areas have resulted in a return to investment and points toward a healthy profit. 38% of his total runs have been in graded or claiming company, the rest concentrated in the rated racing area of the game. As far as the rated scene is concerned, he has once again proved that he is very astute. A fourth place standing in the money list is testament to this. Of his 254 runs, 30 winners have come his way, 12% being the win ratio. He has amassed £422.28 in win and place money from these runs, so it is about a third of his total earnings that have been contributed within this arena. During the period he acquired six horses at auction at a total cost of £112.50 at an average of £18.75 per horse. These horses haven't been too fruitful for him at the track thus far but judging on the evidence are bound to make a penny or two in profit. You could consider a few of them as speculative purchases. Taking nothing away from what he has achieved this last four weeks, I think you'll agree that the stats are quite difficult to find fault in.
We all know what Thesidleyspanker is about. His ever present charge to be the number one rated racing trainer took a mighty step closer over the last four weeks as he reduced the gap on his target, Shotgun Mike. It is fair to say that he will stop at nothing to see his colours proudly displayed at the "Top Of The Game". In comparison to Tocohnas he has seen little in the way of succes in the graded and claiming races. A total of 14 wins in 87 races have returned a win percentage of 16%, a whole 10% behind his rival. But in contrast to that figure there has been a massive 46% placed, which is 8% better than Tocohnas. His earnings from these races has been £135.80 which gives him a return to run ratio of £1.56, which may not seem a lot but when you consider that a vast proportion of these runs were in G3, it's quite a good return. It is when you come to the rated figures that you sit up in your chair. Ok, so the win percentage of 14% might not be great and on paper looks pretty poor but you must consider that sand bagging plays a major part in the tactics of rated racing. So overall his win percentage is not bad at all. It is in this arena that Thesidleyspanker excels. His knowledge of his horses is fantastic and his position as the number one rated trainer is only scuppered by the champion trainer's vast resources. Although I can see him becoming king of the castle very soon. 86% of his income has come from the rated races, £852.27 in total. 83% of his stable wins in the four week period have come from rated races, eighty in total, sixty-six in rated. No trainer has come close to that figure which makes me conclude and even though the earnings do not reflect it, the king of rated racing.Moletown's Thoughts This challenge is a very difficult one to call. Both trainers have exercised a knowledge to gain the wins in any given area of the game. Tocohnas' stable is probably containing the better class of horse so does that make it easier for him to score winners. On the flip side, Thsidleyspanker works very well with the horses he has in his yard. It's pretty obvious that Tocohnas takes the first round when it comes to graded and claiming races but Thesidleyspanker catches him on the ropes when rated racing comes into the mix. I am finding it very difficult to decide where my allegiance would lie and I'm sure you will too. Think long and hard before making your decision as to who wins. You never know the $50 bonus credits may produce a "Monster". May the best man win! Next month's titanic battle will be.... Eire Stables Vs Zip Stables |
