Divine Diva continues to snap up the champion horses in Raceclubs.com's auctions. The man has a plan but what is it?

The RaceClubs.com Auction Review
- - Sunday 26th September 2010 - -

As we reach the mid point of the season it is becoming fairly clear that there is a new kid on the block, determined in their ways and not afraid to pack an auction punch or two. Divine Diva Stable was at it again forking out a wad or in many trainer's cases, a barrel load of cash to secure some top challenge contenders. The auction is a bidding frenzy for the yard and it is determined to get what they want. Challenge class after challenge class horse has found their way to the yard and even the big guns of the racing fraternity have to think twice about going for a horse. In some respect, I was shocked not to see the top package of the auction get guzumped as Shotgun Mike struck a deal with Team Johansson for a trio of Majestic horses. The auction is a place where anyone can buy a horse and in the interest of diversity I am going to avoid the G1 sales this month and feed your thirst with a little G2 action.

The division has been partly overlooked this season due to the amount of quality challenge class horses that have been put under the hammer. This statement does not detract from the fact that there were a few very decent types available this auction. Unfortunately they keep getting bought by the same stable....not that this is a bad thing as owners now seem to be able to get a fair whack for their charge. It does make sense to sell at a decent premium but at the same time you have to ask yourself the question, why are the money laden stables buying them? Well the answer is simple, there is a profit in them! It is easy to say that most rookies or players that want to cash in on their sales ring luck should sell but at the same time the racing fraternity are subject to reading in the forums about big stables creating a monopoly. It's all relative to trainer mentality and maybe, just maybe the tide would turn if some of the players who are lucky enough to pull a challenge class horse from the ring, actually raced them! Just apply a little common sense to your agenda, if they weren't going to make a profit at the £**** asking price you sold it for, why would the horse be bought. In some cases the horse will end up with career earnings maybe five times that sum. I mean if Richard Branson didn't think he could turn British Airways into a money spinner, he wouldn't even be wasting his time stating he can save the countries national airline.

Socialanimal and Full Force Racing announced prior to the auction that this was their final farewell, so I would like to wish both the very best of luck in whatever they do and hopefully they will return one day with renewed enthusiasm for the game. So on that note....

.....never knew exactly what was meant by it but all the best Justin, your many posts of little words made me smile

Three Quality G2 Sales To Talk About

Examplix Nexus - Kopites to Westfield Gardens - £61.30

In my near two years since returning to the game, there has been one G2 horse that I had wanted to bid on and missed out on, that has haunted me ever since Kopites picked him up on the cheap. After a drunken night out and failing to get up early enough to place a bid, I spent most of the day literally with my hands in my head after seeing the price that my good friend Rob had paid for the services of Examplix Nexus. I have to add that it wasn't the alcohol of the previous night that forced my head to be perched in my palms, ok I will admit that I had a bit of a hangover that day but Examplix Nexus was true quality and the fact that Rob had paid barely £15 just added to my morning after the night before woe.

So when I saw that the horse was up for grabs this auction and being very partial to horse and it's ability, I have to admit I did consider a bid. But my stable plan and future development of my yard soon made me realise that I didn't want to involve myself and in some respect I'm glad I didn't as I would have probably let my heart rule rather than my wallet. Examplix is a true servant over the 1400/1600m distances and rarely fails to put in a decent effort. Westfield Gardens has secured a consistent runner who is up there with the very best that the RaceClubs.com G2 horses in his division has to offer. Is £61.30 a fair price to pay? Absolutely! There is no doubt in my mind that Simon (Westfield Gardens) will rake in the return to investment on this one. A very nice acquisition indeed!

Red Season - Socialanimal to Appleyard Estate - £56.55

If Carlsberg made fillies! A popular quote from a very successful advertising campaign. Red Season needs no introduction when it comes to success at the track and has proven over the past few seasons just how good she is. Ok, so she may be getting a little long in the tooth now but at five she still has the ability to make waves amongst the best that the filly division has to offer. Probably at her best as a two year old she raced with consistancy and will go down in %sitename % histaory as one of the best fillies to see the track. If G2 racing were in it's infancy I would be more than likely be commenting that her position in the hall of fame was assured. Will she get close to the greatest filly as depicted by the current hall of fame's most successful filly, Imperial Majesty, unlikely! That is a target that I believe will never be beat. Imperial Majesty was sporned into a world that didn't understand G2 racing as well as the knowledgable owners we compete against today. Nevertheless, Red Season is one of a few fillies that will be remembered for what she achieved during more competitive times. Appleyard Estate clearly fancied the sprinter and at a cost of £56.55 has to be deemed as a shrewd purchase. Her recent form has not lit the virtual world alight but she has two full season's of her career remaining and is far better than that, a sure fire money spinner.

The C I A - Full Force Racing to Chaos Racing - 2 Horse Package £75

Chaos Racing has forked out £37.50 for this horse and when you consider what the horse is all about then it can only lead to success and eyes alight with pound signs. A true staying colt who is very lightly raced. The evidence suggests that he is of similar mould to Muddy Pie, a classy stayer at two who hailed from my very own yard. Muddy Pie hasn't trained on as well as expected in later years but there is no reason why The C I A shouldn't. His form is exceptional when you analyse it a little deeper. In his ten graded starts to date he has failed to earn a return in just two races, just three in his entire career, two of which were on good ground. It is clear to see that the colt loves a little cut in the ground and his focus must remain on the softened surface. A lot of trainers may have passed on this one and may rue that decision as I firmly believe we will see this hardened stayer collect many WFA prizes and with his whole racing career ahead of him, bar a couple of months, the price paid seems the steal of the auction. My hat is raised to Chaos Racing for securing his services at such a premium and don't be too surprised to see this one land an end of season WCD race.
