Buy Equipment

Your stable can stock up on Equipment at any time, purchasable with cash or bonus credits. An items expiry period only starts from when it is first applied to a selected horse. Spare items can therefore be kept in your stable indefinitely until you are ready to use them.

Certain equipment lasts a lifetime while others require replacing after their expiry date:

• Shoes (Alumites) expire after 30 days.
• Gelding is permanent.
• Blinkers can be removed and re-applied.
• Vitamins can be applied every 15 days.

Equipment ranges in price from £0.63 to £1.26.

Note: If you have selected to automatically reapply shoes (alumites) (the ‘multi’ option when applying) to a horse when they wear out, the system is reliant on your stable having pre-purchased stock of them.

Apply Equipment

All items will improve a horses performance to varying degrees or have no effect at all, albeit blinkers which can also have a detrimental effect on a horse.

Vitamins affect a horses fitness by 5% to 10% and could flip your horse over 100% reverting it back to 50%. Please consult the Equipment Shop for detailed information.

Comeback kings are all over the place these days. In the world of sport Paul Scholes of Manchester United has shown that 37 is the new 21! In our own game a man who took a lengthy breather has decided to try his luck again and it’s wonderful to see Daniel of the Siggiewi Lodge back in the game. It’s over five years since this famous old stable first took horses in and he went down in history by telling a reporter about his routine when a big race is on. He said “I visit the toilet frequently. I must say I don't actually enjoy them. The anxiety kills me.” Well our friend from down under is alive and well and we’re delighted to have you back sir….even if it’s just in ‘a small way’ as you say.

Cheers to the Preakness with Black-eyed Susan

The Race Programmer says you’re in for an exciting time if you’re running in the Peakness virtual horse races this weekend. He’s so excited about the Preakness that he can barely contain his Mint Julep in one hand and his Black-Eyed Susan in the other. 

The Preakness, hosted at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland is the second leg of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. If the Preakness Stakes winner has also won the preceding Kentucky Derby, it is considered predicative of the Belmont Stakes winner; which completes the three legs of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. The winning trainer is presented with a replica of the Woodlawn Vase (the original trophy is displayed on the day but stored in a museum) and their stable colors are immediately painted onto a horse & jockey weather-vane displayed on the track. The horse is decorated with a horseshoe of Black-eyed Susans. 

Before you get the wrong idea about Black-eyed Susan, she’s nothing like Cross-eyed Candy, an acquaintance of the Race Programmer who he is said to be very fond of, but the celebratory cocktail that the Race Programmer is equally fond of. The Race Programmer likes to make it with vodka, rum and triple sec (one generous cup of each) added to 4 cups of orange juice and 4 cups of pineapple juice with the juice of one lime. He’s never been too specific about the details because he says he wants people to drink it, not write books about it. It’s best served cold but if you think it’s too much of a hassle to serve it in an ice bowl you can just throw in some ice cubes which he says work like a charm! 

The Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) that inspired the cocktail is the designated state flower of Maryland which makes the horseshoe used to decorate the winning horse. Some confusion if the “race for the Black-eyed Susan” is referencing the horseshoe or the cocktail lounge. Either way, the Race Programmer hopes you rush into the Preakness with a Black-eyed Susan because he’s sponsoring them with £315.00.

"He’s a jerk so I kneed him” – clear, simple and concise from Chelsea captain John Terry!

Some knee-jerk reactions can be lucrative!

If Chelsea captain John Terry ever decides to fire his legal team than he could do worse than recruiting replacements from this website. I asked you to come up with a defence for the 31-year old to the charge than he intentionally kneed a Barcelona player in the back in the recent second-leg of the Champions’ League semi-final. You see after poor old misunderstood John was red-carded he said in TV interviews that he didn’t mean to do it, that it looked worse on the screen than it actually was and in his defence he said that those who knew him would know he’d never do something like this – not the best coming from you Mr. Terry! Instead the Bootle Redsox stable suggested he use this line “It was just a knee-jerk reaction, he’s a jerk so I kneed him” – clear, simple and concise enough for even John to remember! For your efforts Bootle Redsox you win this week’s £10 in bonus credits.

There were some other classic answers too like this one from Dollars Hill – “I was just having a celebratory ' knees up mother brown' as I knew we were gonna win...I was just putting 'the left foot in' and as he obviously doesn’t know the song, he done the Hokey Kokey and he turned around ........., but while lying on the floor''.

The first female jockey to win the Kentucky Oaks deserves a round of applause. Congratulations Rosie Napravnik!

Rosie Napravnik becomes first female jockey to win the Kentucky Oaks 

The Kentucky races became even more exciting on RaceClubs.com when a female jockey won the Kentucky Oaks for the first time in the history of the race. Girl power has come to the world of virtual horse racing as Rosie Napravnik crossed the finish line on ‘Believe You Can’ after an intense battle against the indomitable John Velazquez on ‘Broadway's Alibi’. 

She said she can't even tell you what it feels like but that it is what it feels like when your dreams come true. She has set a precedent that other female jockeys have been dreaming about for countless seasons on RaceClubs.com.

“It’s just marvelous to see a female jockey being afforded the respect that she deserves after proving that us female jockeys are just as capable of winning the big races if we get the right horses that’s been trained right by its owner,” says Diane Hall, an avid campaigner for the rights of female jockeys.

Roxana Castro agreed, “The problem is that virtual horse racing is a male dominated sport. The trainers are male, the male jockeys get the best races and the Race Programmer is male. Even the tea lady is a male. I mean it’s virtually impossible for a woman to get anywhere in this male oppressed horse racing world!” 

“If the world ever needed to see what a female jockey can do with a horse then they need to see little Rosie Napravnik ride ‘Believe You Can’ harder than any man could and with greater success. She’s an inspiration to all women jockeys. I hope this allows us into the bigger races so we can also show what kind of stuff we’re made of,” explains Geraldine Sullivan

RaceClubs.com would like to congratulate Rosie Napravnik on such an impressive victory in the Kentucky Oaks- and not just because she is a female jockey, but because she is a great jockey who deserves the accolade. The fact that she made history by being the first female jockey to win the race makes it more memorable but winning the Kentucky Oaks is always a historical event. We just couldn’t think of a better jockey to have won it.

Twenty one minutes after the Pdr stable posted “There are still a load of donkeys in the sales ring! Well I guess there's a few less now - I've shot the ones I just bought” on May 1st the Green Farm Racing stable wrote “Not gloating (honestly!) But having just read your post here I decided to buy a horse from the sales ring with a few credits I'd won last night. It was rubbish as well! But then I realised I'd bought it with cash rather than the bonus credits so decided to buy another with the credits and pulled a challenge class colt. So thanks bud as I wouldn't have bought at all if you hadn't put your post up.” Oh well Pdr, your reward will be great someday in the virtual horse racing game in the sky!

The trainers on RaceClubs.com’s list of top 100 trainers of all time have the X-factor in the virtual horse racing community. They were legends in their own time, some of them are living legends in our time but regardless of where life may take them they are inextricable connected to the greatest virtual horse racing community in the world. 

If you’re new to the world of virtual horse racing there are still things that you can learn from them just by studying their form. They weren’t infallible because, like any man or woman who tried saddling a virtual horse on RaceClubs.com, they fell off a couple of times. They’ve sold champions in claimers, entered horses into allowance races after winning a race and tried flipped their horses a minutes before a major race. What makes them great is that they were as willing to share their mistakes with the community as generously as they were to share the secrets of their success. They weren’t racing against the community- they were racing for the community. 

There isn’t a trainer today who can say that they haven’t been inspired by one of the top 100 players; either directly, or indirectly through their protégés. It would be unfair to say they enjoyed instant success on RaceClubs.com because they faced challenges that were unique to their time but they made it easier for the next generation of trainers around the globe to enter the world of virtual horse racing. 

Their only fault, if you could call it that, is that they are the ones who are really responsible for raising the bar in virtual horse racing!
