New ergonomic enhancements to race program make allow you to enter your horses into races in the blink of an eye!

Enter Races Even More Easily – NEW Enhancement today

In preparing for future functional enhancements that include a new system of race programming to ensure that you get the races you want, we have improved the design and layout of the display of race details on the following pages:
- Future Races
- Enter Races list for each horse
- Race Details
- Race Results

This display enhancements make it easier to view and read the race information. In particular:
- The stakes and entry fee are no longer stacked on top of each other.
- The field size is more legible.
- The relationship between the enter race button and the related race detail on the Enter Races page is now more definite.
- The eligibility and handicap summary now has a mouse over on each item to explain what the summary means.
- The new race distance and going symbol provides improved visual distinction between race conditions.
- There is a standard view option of the Enter Races page which primarily eliminates confusion that new members experience in trying to figure out all options available in the filter.

These ergonomic enhancements may take a little getting used to, but have shown to certainly enable people to better understand the races and distinguish between them. We trust that you will enjoy the improvements as you become more familiar with them.

We have also enabled you to see all eligible races for pending horses. This has been requested by many members to assist in determining whether to activate a horse. What’s more, you are now able to then activate the pending horse on the enter races page. Plus if you mouse over the pending alert, it will tell you what stabling fee is pending on the horse.

We hope you enjoy the changes!

Slowstable just won his 3,000th racem which deserves a round of applause & a celebration. Plus he can pay for it it- he's also won £88,910.34.!

Slowstables 3000th Winner!

Las Coloradas 02/10/2010

Slowstables could be considered as one of the elder statesmen of RaceClubs.com. His stable has survived through thick and thin since his introduction to the game on Tuesday 17th August 2004. Many changes have occurred over the years and the yard has embraced the change and taken to all formats like a duck to water. Back in the days of yore there was no jockey representation of the random, no where near six time trials a day and G2 racing wasn't even a glimmer in RC's eye! Racing was totally different and some would say, far more competitive. The concept of virtual racing was now in full swing and Slowstables wanted to be a part of it. The stables first runner took to the track on a balmy Summer's morning, 22/08/2004, a day which saw little known Chilean, Nicolas Massu beat Mardy Fish of the USA to claim the Olympic Men's Tennis title. Midnight's Lair made the journey to a rain sodden American track to fly the flag in a New Stable Novice Juvenile 2YO Colts race. During the race the horse must have made his heart skip a beat or two and gave his owner a run for his money, until halfway. The two year old slipped off the pace, eventually crossing the line in seventh place.

The first of many learning curves negotiated during his long career had been hurdled. The very next day the horse was at the track again. Conditions were the same but the trip had been reduced. Obviously the trainer saw something in his race debut that suggested the horse didn't quite see out the 1600m trip, dropping him back to 1400m. The decision seemed justified when the horse ran a close fourth and became the trainer's first runner to bag some prize money. A further day passed and we would see the introduction of his first filly to hit the races. Snowball Oranges placement in an allowance race first time out would raise a few eyebrows in today's virtual arena, unless of course it was some kind of monster. Running off a top weight of 120lbs she lumped top weight to a creditable fourth place. The days passed and the stable continued to race the pair he had acquired from the ring. Like most trainers he wanted to seek the ability of a colt and filly and it was these two horses that probably built the foundations for the stable to this day.

It was to be only a matter of time before the yard were to score their first ever winner. Twelve days after his stable opened a result was to come his way when Midnight's Lair took down a Novice Plate by almost a length. The pleasure that the stable exhumed after that race, like all new trainer's when they cross the line in first for the first time, must have been immeasurable. It acts like a springboard to better things and the confidence only grows from knowing that you can do it. Not put off by Snowball Oranges' reluctance to add to his winning tally, she continued to frustrate until the early hours of September 2nd 2004. Carrying a weight of 114lbs in anallowance race she got her reward and recorded her first and her trainer's second winner, justifying his patience with her. The yard had now scored in a colt and fillies race, introducing him to the RaceClubs.com virtual world. Now aged twenty, Midnight's Lair and Snowball Oranges rest easy in the virtual knackers’ yard in the sky, knowing how important they were. The pair must be held in high regard by their trainer and sit fondly in his memory.

Skipping forward 2998 winners later, it's fair to say that Slowstables have established themselves as one of the most successful yards ever to hit the RaceClubs.com tracks. I for one am in awe of his dedication to the game and long may that continue. He will always go out of his way to help a new player and demonstrates a very good persona on the forums. A lot of trainers have come and go in his time here but Slowstables remains standing tall and is showing no evidence of retiring just yet. His current yard houses one hundred and twenty-four runners and yesterday, one of those runners, Las Coloradas made virtual racing history for the yard when recording his 3000th winner. Lining up in a Maiden Juvenile for colts, the two year old led close home to etch his name in the history books.

3000th Winner, Las Coloradas. Congratulations!

During his time playing the game, Slowstables have amassed nearly 26000 runs, securing over £90,000 in win and place money. I'm sure there are many races and many horses that will be remembered down the years by the trainer and possibly too many to mention. The stable has a knack when it comes to rated racing and the introduction of the format has seen him become one of the all time best. Over £36,000 has come his way via this arena, making a bold statement and contributing to 40% of his overall stable earnings. I'm sure he would be sad to see the platform disappear from the race programme, should that be the case but like many changes he has witnessed down the years, I'm sure his stable will evolve around and embrace any new and future developments. The one thing the stable is lacking is a Championship. Ten finals have not yielded a winner but I'm sure that is something that cannot detract from the achievement his yard has recently completed. I for one will have my fingers crossed that a Challenge Cup will soon be displayed alongside his name, after all, I think you'll agree that his continued support and dedication deserves it. Here's to another three thousand winners!

Tongue In Cheek - Pieces!

October 2nd 2010

Tweet, It's A Buzz!

As you may have noticed, the social networking craze is in full swing. Whether you are a Facebook freak or a Twitter....erm...only one word springs to mind.....tweeter of course, or even if you have never used any of the multitude of options the webbie has to offer, there is no escaping its power. The world has gone social networking nuts! Personally, I have never used any method, until now. I have recently been drawn into the world of social networking, admittedly with reluctance. However, I can't help but think what benefit it has upon the world and can only act as a bond to bring the world together. Let's face it, used sensibly it can be a very powerful and fruitful tool. You may have noticed that my articles are now including a "Tweet" option. I urge all your tweeters out there to pass on your tweets. It can only be a good thing. If one person joins RaceClubs.com as a result of it and that person ensures another player joins then it has to be beneficial for every single trainer. A snowball effect could in fact produce more players which would result in more runners, bigger fields, more prize money on offer and more competitive racing for all virtual trainers. Tweet, It's a buzz!

H2H Tocohnas Vs Thesidleyspanker

Voting continues to crown the inaugural H2H champion. You can register your vote for who you think should win the $50 in bonus credits, courtesy of the "Bank of Moletown". To register a vote and make one trainer, a happy trainer, visit the most recent article published in the articles forum, you can't miss it, it's the one with the trivial-pursuit-like-cheese-wedge on display. A draw is a possibility with this month's competition very difficult to decide. Voting will close at 12pm (Midday) on Monday (11.00am Game Time). Don't delay, cast your vote today! This month's H2H has already kicked off between Eire Stables and Zip Stables, so for one month they will be on tenterhooks at the beginning of each race, hoping to stay one step ahead of their rival with an eye on the $50 prize. Good Luck Guys!

It's All Fantasy, A Tip Is A Tip

No I am not talking about a 10% gratuitous offering you might leave a waitress in a restaurant. These tips are more worthwhile and can net you some cool bonus credits for your efforts. The Fantasy Stable Competition will again start a fresh this evening, so if you have some deadwood in your picks and want to make some very needed changes then you'll have to be quick as transfer time is running out. Get those changes onto the thread in the competitions forum, no later than 5pm. Congratulations to the winner of the first monthly competition, Murrumba Downs who pockets a cool $225 with a healthy winning margin of 14 points. Can you take him down this month, only the racing Gods know the answer! The Weekly Fantasy Tipping Competition continues, week eighty-six is in full swing, grats to all last month’s victors. A few more weeks and Jim would have caught up with the ever popular music CD "Now That's What I Call Music" which I believe is now in it's 2741st edition. Gone are the days of a Sunday afternoon sat in front of the radio listening to the charts, hitting "play and record". You now you did it!

Put A Feather In Their Cap!

A cry not too dissimilar to a certain groan of the "Churchill Dog"....."Oh No, No, No" greeted the hierarchy of the virtual world, when the introduction of the new "Capped" races came into force this week. A new race aimed at the lesser horse didn't exactly meet the community with open arms. A great concept was spoiled only by the huge $8 entry fee which prompted many trainers to harp-on. Thankfully, the all seeing eye of member support passed on the concerns of the community and common sense prevailed, halving the entry fee to $4. The community sighed in relief and their downward pointed corners of their mouths slowly ebbed into a cheesy grin and they stood in applause to embrace the new format. The races will no doubt add another dimension to virtual world and I'm sure there are many out there who will benefit from this type of race. It's so refreshing to see community members thanking on the forums, rather than tearing the decision makers apart. Keep the trends going RC.

The Raceclubs Telegraph Fantasy Football - Update

Everton can't get a win and Wayne Rooney has spent more time on the sidelines in recent times than he spent flashing his wedge (money that is!) in front of a couple of ladies, representing the worlds oldest profession. Blackpool are proving to be tougher than the confectionery their town's people sell during summer season and Roy Hodgson's lisp is taking on a rather distinct scouse accent. All in all the new Premiership season has continued to entertain the masses on and off the pitch. Arsene Wenger still spends most of his Saturday afternoon watching a totally different game to the rest of us and Alex Ferguson is under pressure, evident by his increasingly glowing nose. Recent sales of Glen Fiddich have rocketed in the Manchester area. The real talent lies in our RaceClubs.com managers who have picked their teams with effect week in, week out. Mick Barker (Mick's Heroes) leads the way in the competition with 287 points. His team has scored more goals than any other team although I fear he has taken a gung-ho approach to the game and may be rapidly running low on transfers. I might be wrong and if I am, fairplay Mick! You are showing your son a "Squeaky Clean" set of heels!

I Urge You To Have Your Say

If you would like me to write about anything game related, my ears are always open to ideas. If you have a training landmark in sight or would like to introduce yourself to the racing community, drop me a line. Even if you don't like what I am writing, I embrace negative feedback in the same way as positive and would urge you to speak to me about it. I'd much rather receive an inbox message looking at ways to improve my articles, than you keep quiet or send messages to member support. Don't be afraid, I wont bite. I thank you all for your continued support.

When it comes to Stardust Racing, it's not what you race but how you race your horses!

Raceclubs Trainers Close Gap, September Is Divine!

September 2010

One of the most talked about months in RaceClubs.com history has passed us by. There has been no end of topical debate, cries for action and some darn good racing to boot. As the virtual racing merry-go-round leaves September and moves into the fireworks month of October, let's all keep our fingers crossed for some sparkling action to come. Concentrating on what has arguably been a transition period for the fraternity, some may have liked the implemented changes, whilst others have displayed a not so keen attitude. Nevertheless, the racing has continued and much like a waterlogged Sunday morning football match, the conditions have been accepted and the players have got on with what they know best, racing!

When you look into the site statistics, you always get that sense of familiarity. There is the obvious new charge and free-spending antics of Divine Diva Stables to get amongst the big boys but the performance of the month has to go to Rob of the Kopites yard who has secured himself a top ten placing on the monthly leader board for the very first time. He has exercised some unfamiliar control over his race nominations this month and although he is still likely to blow up at any given moment and shout idle threats of leaving, I firmly believe we will still see him here for many seasons to come. The idea of selling a lot of dead wood and group two horses has seemed to work for him as he made some solid group one purchases from the proceeds. It appears that the Manchester-Scouser has taken a step forward in the game and although the popular trainer sometimes doesn't realise it, his yard is taking a very nice shape. If he can continue some of the patience shown in recent times and continue with the game, rather than concentrate his efforts on leaving, there is no doubt he can be one of the biggest yards in the game.

The auction scene has been frantic and sometimes I have had to look twice to see exactly how much a horse is selling for. The entire virtual community are witnessing some sheer power spending by the Divine Diva Stables. If you haven't heard of this stable yet, where the hell have you been hiding for the past few months? When all is said and done, is the stable going to stop spending on the best the site has to offer? Probably not! What was surprising to see and a statement of intent was the announcement that they had a further 5K to spend in the last auction. It is a fair comment made that the new kid on the block is "deadly serious". Though I believe, as serious as they are, there are cracks in their armour. Entering a challenge class horse into a £16.50 claimer may have been a small error by the yard but will benefit the new owner, Ditch Heath. Sakura Diva was far better class than claiming company and has already proved that by running Luscious and Regency Blaze close in two qualifiers this month. Irony sets in when you consider that the first winner, Luscious is now a Divine Diva horse. Regency Blaze is good, there is no doubting that! Miami Vice's filly ran a very good third behind Eyes Of Medusa in the Ladbrokes Challenge Final and will no doubt step up on this effort.

It's not what you pay, it's how you race them! Quite a statement I think you'll agree but very apt in the case of Stardust Racing and their filly Eyes Of Medusa. Lyn was over the moon when her new acquisition led and made all when landing the spoils in this month's challenge final. A £405 purchase from the Island House yard now has the rest of her career under the guidance of the shrewd trainer and profit will be in abundance with this one, let's face it she has nothing to lose with her now after she has almost paid for herself already. A mark of a man is when they are prepared to congratulate, Island House is a very good man. He sold the filly to Stardust Racing and I recently received a mail from John, to quote, "I'm well chuffed for Lyn that Eyes Of Medusa won last night's Ladbrokes Challenge Final. I said she was good and she proved it." A good egg all round if you ask me. Some would despair that they had parted with a challenge winner, without doubt, so to see such sportsmanship and delight is admirable.

The sales ring can be a fickle place but all the negatives you may experience will always be forgotten when you pull a challenge contender yourself. The randomness is no different to pairing up two quality real life horses. It's all relative, you just do not know what it is going to spawn. Yes, you can play safe and rely solely on the auction but when the ring favours you, great things happen, as Al Mighty demonstrated when taking down the colts' division of the Ladbrokes Challenge Final. Whether you are a big multi horse spender or a single horse purchase favourer, cash or bonus credits, the sales ring can accommodate you! What I liked so much about this championship winner was not the way he won the race but the way his trainer handled him, showing great patience and ultimately getting his reward. The July yearling was handled with care and attention to detail. He didn't sway from what seems to be his best race conditions, a little give in the ground. Al Mighty, I salute you!

As we wave a fond farewell to September we immediately turn our attention to October. There is a lot in store this month, noticeably the Ladbrokes Challenge Finals. This month will see the "speedster's" hit the track to contest a "blink of an eye" final over the specialist distance of 1000m. If you have a nag lurking in the midst of your stable and are ready to unleash, I wish you all good luck. Let's hope that the month is a fruitful one for your yard and that the visits to the winner’s enclosure are frequent.

From Rookie To Champion on Raceclubs? Meet the five hottest new trainers on Raceclubs before you're up against them in your next race!

From Rookie To Champion on Raceclubs!
A view of five up and coming rookie stables

Whether you are a trainer who concentrates on G3 racers or a big fish intent on challenge domination, everyone who entertains themselves by participating at RaceClubs.com all have something in common, we all had to start somewhere. I have often preached the gospel of how important your knowledge of the game has to be to compete and play the game on a level with your peers. It is a time consuming exercise that can only be improved with patience and a willingness to learn, look and listen. This game is more complex than it can appear on the surface and without the proper investment of your time and patience can you ever expect it to be mastered. Many players jump at the chance to own a virtual nag and are instantly taken in by the potential lucrative prizes on offer and the excitement and buzz you experience when one of your own hits the line first but always remember that this game is not a jump-in opportunity to win a quick penny or two.

It's all so easy to come into the game with a bottomless pit of money and experience the thrill of competing with and against the best of the best, day in day out but there has to be far more satisfaction to graft your way to the top. Learning from your mistakes is an integral part of your journey and can help build a solid knowledge base for progression through the ranks. One thing I always say when approached by a new player is that you wont get handed all the skills neccessary to become an instant success at the track. Of course there are ways and means of obtaining great information by means of the mentorship program and your fellow community members, who are extremely forward in helping a new player out. Although these two examples are outlets that you should certainly consider, the best knowledge can be found on the site itself and more often than not in your own stable.

In the interest of the newer players and to introduce some lesser known players to the community I have selected five rookie trainers to observe and have spent a good few hours trawling through their stables, getting to know their charges and the style they play the game with. The purpose is not one of scrutiny but one of acknowledgement. To celebrate what they have achieved so far on their journey as they get to grips and accustomed to the ins and outs of day-to-day gameplay.

Jz Racing Stable : Graded Wins : 20

Of the five stables I have chosen to delve a little deeper into, Jz Racing Stable is the largest of them all, currently housing fifty horses. What I like the most about this stable is the dedication to the claimer races. Of the fifty horses that has been amassed since joining on August 3rd 2010, twenty-three of their current runners have come from claims. This is certainly the way to go when you first become a member of RaceClubs.com as it is a very reliable source of information and the general rule is to pick up an older horse that has had a lot of wins. The time trial data sourced from such horses can be regarded as gold dust in some cases and can act as a marker to base your stables future upon. Although absent of such horses I have concluded that the stable has built quite a knowledgable stance on what is required. The knowledge gained from claiming so many horses has led the stable to pick up some very well priced horses at auction. Not only is the stable hitting winners with a win percentage of 16% in graded races but it seems to be gaining confidence in his ability to seek new blood. What did interest me most about his auction purchases is his affiliation to particular stables. It seems that there is an element of trust in who he is dealing with, another good way to ensure value for money.

Black Secrets : Graded Wins : 2

This stable has taken the approach to build a stable of runners exclusively from the claimer races and predominantly within the G2 arena. This is a very good tactical approach if you are looking to step up the grades into the G1 arena. It acts as a solid approach when getting to know what is required to win a race in any given spectrum. I look on this stable to be making a quiet, yet not beyond reach, step up in grade. Given time and with some calculated claims there is evidence to suggest that the stable is coming to terms with his runners and has recently decided to take a look at some G1 runners, picking up a couple at the minimum to speculate. I very much like the patient approach this stable is taking and in just over a month since their stable opened they currently have eighteen horses to feed their fortune. One thing I did notice which stuck out like a sore thumb was a potential winner lurking. If I were to offer some advice to the yard it would be to concentrate their horse, Catch The Waves in allowance races to make good use of the low weight it will carry.

Mac Hardy : Graded Wins : 11

The place that produces the greatest horses the virtual world will see is the sales ring. It's often considered that it can sometimes be a dangerous place but without it, where would all the horses come from? It's often refreshing to see that some trainers are not put off by a dip into the unknown and this can be said of Mac Hardy. All but three of the twenty-four horses in the yard have come directly from the ring. This is a stark contrast to our previously mentioned stables who have used the claimers as their main source to obtain racers. It is clear to see that the stable want to be a part of the G1 scene as a vast proportion of their runners hail to the grade. To date the stable has scored with a 13% strike rate in graded races and when you consider that over half the yard compete at the top grade it is fair to say that it has not been a bad start to their career at all. With barely a months racing on the clock, the stable has quickly adapted and can also boast a 39% placed percentage, which on reflection is up there with the best. This stable strikes me as a fast learner and can go from strength to strength.

Oastler Stable : Graded Wins : 3

Although small in stature, the Oastler Stable is gradually finding their feet. Their recent claim of four year old colt, Throw It Down, should give them a more detailed insight into the workings of the G1 arena. This stable is not put off by having a smaller stable in comparison to others and I get the feeling that they are spending time learning the ropes. So far they have not lit up the racing world but do have a very respectable place to run ratio, currently 40%. Now that in itself suggests that the race placement is obviously correct and with a little more luck and maybe a couple more quality horses in the yard, it would be of no surprise to see the stable gradually climb the ladder of success. People tend to forget that some stables have limited budgets and constraints to work within and often it is these stumbling blocks that have to be the first hurdle to jump to progress as a trainer. Oastler Stable may be a stable who will set a very tight budget. This is a very good atribute and all stables should think about how much they can afford to stake when running their yard. The most important factor is to remain in these parameters and the rest will come naturally in time.

Bradington UK : Graded Wins : 5

The first thing that strikes you when you enter this yard is the entry of their horse, Wallet Emptier, into an allowance race first time up. The irony is in the horses name and this is exactly what will happen if this practise continued and is something that all aspiring rookie players should take note of. Unless you have a horse of supreme ability or you are purposely sand-bagging the horse to a low weight then it is never considered that an allowance race be the first visit to the track that a horse should take. This act may have been an oversight by the trainer as his handling of one of his other horses, Wotzthechances, clearly indicate the yard know exactly when an allowance race should be utilised and they should be commended. A steady approach and thought about race placement will see this stable gain strength in race numbers and wins and even though a couple of mistakes may be made along the way, always take the negative and turn it into a positive. I have a feeling that the yard is going to come good and they have shown an aptitude within the rated racing area of the game, an area that not even the most hardened of players can grasp.
