Biography: Graham is the sports editor of the Irish Post newspaper in London and has been a broadcast and print journalist for the last eight years working in the U.K., Australia and in his native Ireland. He presents a show on local BBC radio in the South East of England and claims to have Psychic powers. He once caught a falling star and glued it back in space again and is in line to become the official starter of the Aintree Grand National in 2010!At last Jennifer Harris is a winner! When Jennifer Harris’ career guidance teacher told her in secondary school that she’d come to nothing, well, he wasn’t lying. The American decided she’d become a jockey in recent years after an unsuccessful spell as a body double for Jo Brand. She has been banned form driving in her home state of Ohio and in 2008 she drove a caddie car into a lake at a golf club in the State of Arizona. On her fifteenth birthday Harris hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when she accidentally killed a man who had just days earlier saved a family from a burning house by knocking him off a ladder. And only weeks ago a turbulent relationship with Kieran Fallon ended after the controversial Irish jockey said Harris was severely lacking in the bedroom department. With a win to run ratio of just 4 miserable percent it’s been suggested that the 32-year-old born again Christian would struggle to win a race in which the horse she was riding would be the sole runner. All in all her virtual innings have been gloriously unsuccessful but this week she enjoyed a turn up for the books. Wannabe Engineer Bad Cat barn read about BP’s unsuccessful attempts to stop oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico and suggested using the American jockey to plug the hole. Given her tumbler shape Harris was the perfect fit for the offending chasm on the sea bed and this week the oil is staying where it should. Bad Cat Barn received both the gratitude of the American people and the £10 in BONUS CREDITSfor winning the most recent View from the Stands competition for his efforts. As for Harris, rumours are doing the rounds that her identical sister Gloria has replaced her in the saddle and what’s worse she’s passing herself off as Jennifer – disgraceful! Post of the week goes to South Downs – MANUEL!It started off as a serious and justified post from Frank Lopez about the restrictions on training but contrived to deliver the best line of the new season thus far. Lopez used the title “management gone crazy” for his thread. Owners went back and forth on the issue while their virtual horses put their feet up. Eventually South Downs, originally from Spain, couldn’t stay out of the discussion any longer. He sprinted to the computer, his sombrero fell off, his sangria spilt everywhere and the bowl of oranges on the table crashed to the ground. His tanned fingers hit the keyboard and with a hint of pain in his face he wrote “Mrs. Fawlty, She go Crrrrrrrazeeeeeeeeeee." SUPERB! Unhappy owners break into songFirstly I have to say a huge congratulations to the recent Challenge Series winners, you all know who you are! And if you don’t I suggest you speak to someone. This section of View from the Stands however focuses on those who came second in last week’s major races. After watching his 4 year old colt Maximum Bet finish just a quarter of a length behind Latin Glory from the Queen Bee yard in Hong Kong’s St. Ledger Challenge Final stable owner Heinz turned to the crowd and gave an emotional version of the Beatles classic “Let it be”. And Fanfield who’s 3 year old colt Master Explorer finished just behind shotgun_mike’s El Legendario in the Stayers challenge Final for juvenile colts was heard humming the Monty Python classic “Always look on the bright side of life!” Framley Farm kick starts season of givingIt’s great to know that in these difficult times there are some owners out there with massive hearts. The gesture by Framley Farm to donate the $100 won from their recent tipping competition towards a number of small stable races was a nice touch. As a consequence of this self-less and altruistic gesture Red Halo Racing are to rename their yard Everton 4ever stables, God’s country are to donate all winnings to the papal visit fund and I’ve even implemented a hug a granny element to my every day!
