Tocohnas wins the $50 prize in Moletown's Head2Head with Thesidleyspanker! Question is who is going H2H next?

Moletown's $50 Head2Head

Tocohnas Vs Thesidleyspanker
Who will get your vote?

So the first Head2Head challenge between Tocohnas and Thesidleyspanker has finally come to an end. Both trainer's have shown a winning mentality in the four week period that has brought us to this conclusion. All that needs to be done is for you, the community, to judge their achievement and success at the RaceClubs.com track and base your final decision as to who should get the $50 in bonus credits. But before you decide, here's a little round-up of what both stables have accomplished.

During the challenge, Tocohnas has proved that he is comfortable racing his yard across all spectrums of the game, from rated racing to G1 and has recorded success in every arena. His overall performance over the past four weeks has seen him establish himself within the top twenty trainer's list of earnings, currently sat in eighteenth place. A vast proportion of his earnings have come via graded and claimer races. 154 runs has yielded a return of £929.34 at an average return to runner of £6.03 with 59 placed and 36 winners. If you break that down into a win percentage, the returned figure is 26% and by any standard this is a very tasty number. A total of 64% of his nominations in these two areas have resulted in a return to investment and points toward a healthy profit. 38% of his total runs have been in graded or claiming company, the rest concentrated in the rated racing area of the game.

As far as the rated scene is concerned, he has once again proved that he is very astute. A fourth place standing in the money list is testament to this. Of his 254 runs, 30 winners have come his way, 12% being the win ratio. He has amassed £422.28 in win and place money from these runs, so it is about a third of his total earnings that have been contributed within this arena. During the period he acquired six horses at auction at a total cost of £112.50 at an average of £18.75 per horse. These horses haven't been too fruitful for him at the track thus far but judging on the evidence are bound to make a penny or two in profit. You could consider a few of them as speculative purchases. Taking nothing away from what he has achieved this last four weeks, I think you'll agree that the stats are quite difficult to find fault in.

We all know what Thesidleyspanker is about. His ever present charge to be the number one rated racing trainer took a mighty step closer over the last four weeks as he reduced the gap on his target, Shotgun Mike. It is fair to say that he will stop at nothing to see his colours proudly displayed at the "Top Of The Game". In comparison to Tocohnas he has seen little in the way of succes in the graded and claiming races. A total of 14 wins in 87 races have returned a win percentage of 16%, a whole 10% behind his rival. But in contrast to that figure there has been a massive 46% placed, which is 8% better than Tocohnas. His earnings from these races has been £135.80 which gives him a return to run ratio of £1.56, which may not seem a lot but when you consider that a vast proportion of these runs were in G3, it's quite a good return.

It is when you come to the rated figures that you sit up in your chair. Ok, so the win percentage of 14% might not be great and on paper looks pretty poor but you must consider that sand bagging plays a major part in the tactics of rated racing. So overall his win percentage is not bad at all. It is in this arena that Thesidleyspanker excels. His knowledge of his horses is fantastic and his position as the number one rated trainer is only scuppered by the champion trainer's vast resources. Although I can see him becoming king of the castle very soon. 86% of his income has come from the rated races, £852.27 in total. 83% of his stable wins in the four week period have come from rated races, eighty in total, sixty-six in rated. No trainer has come close to that figure which makes me conclude and even though the earnings do not reflect it, the king of rated racing.

Moletown's Thoughts

This challenge is a very difficult one to call. Both trainers have exercised a knowledge to gain the wins in any given area of the game. Tocohnas' stable is probably containing the better class of horse so does that make it easier for him to score winners. On the flip side, Thsidleyspanker works very well with the horses he has in his yard. It's pretty obvious that Tocohnas takes the first round when it comes to graded and claiming races but Thesidleyspanker catches him on the ropes when rated racing comes into the mix. I am finding it very difficult to decide where my allegiance would lie and I'm sure you will too. Think long and hard before making your decision as to who wins. You never know the $50 bonus credits may produce a "Monster". May the best man win!

Divine Diva continues to snap up the champion horses in Raceclubs.com's auctions. The man has a plan but what is it?

The RaceClubs.com Auction Review
- - Sunday 26th September 2010 - -

As we reach the mid point of the season it is becoming fairly clear that there is a new kid on the block, determined in their ways and not afraid to pack an auction punch or two. Divine Diva Stable was at it again forking out a wad or in many trainer's cases, a barrel load of cash to secure some top challenge contenders. The auction is a bidding frenzy for the yard and it is determined to get what they want. Challenge class after challenge class horse has found their way to the yard and even the big guns of the racing fraternity have to think twice about going for a horse. In some respect, I was shocked not to see the top package of the auction get guzumped as Shotgun Mike struck a deal with Team Johansson for a trio of Majestic horses. The auction is a place where anyone can buy a horse and in the interest of diversity I am going to avoid the G1 sales this month and feed your thirst with a little G2 action.

The division has been partly overlooked this season due to the amount of quality challenge class horses that have been put under the hammer. This statement does not detract from the fact that there were a few very decent types available this auction. Unfortunately they keep getting bought by the same stable....not that this is a bad thing as owners now seem to be able to get a fair whack for their charge. It does make sense to sell at a decent premium but at the same time you have to ask yourself the question, why are the money laden stables buying them? Well the answer is simple, there is a profit in them! It is easy to say that most rookies or players that want to cash in on their sales ring luck should sell but at the same time the racing fraternity are subject to reading in the forums about big stables creating a monopoly. It's all relative to trainer mentality and maybe, just maybe the tide would turn if some of the players who are lucky enough to pull a challenge class horse from the ring, actually raced them! Just apply a little common sense to your agenda, if they weren't going to make a profit at the £**** asking price you sold it for, why would the horse be bought. In some cases the horse will end up with career earnings maybe five times that sum. I mean if Richard Branson didn't think he could turn British Airways into a money spinner, he wouldn't even be wasting his time stating he can save the countries national airline.

Socialanimal and Full Force Racing announced prior to the auction that this was their final farewell, so I would like to wish both the very best of luck in whatever they do and hopefully they will return one day with renewed enthusiasm for the game. So on that note....

.....never knew exactly what was meant by it but all the best Justin, your many posts of little words made me smile

Three Quality G2 Sales To Talk About

Examplix Nexus - Kopites to Westfield Gardens - £61.30

In my near two years since returning to the game, there has been one G2 horse that I had wanted to bid on and missed out on, that has haunted me ever since Kopites picked him up on the cheap. After a drunken night out and failing to get up early enough to place a bid, I spent most of the day literally with my hands in my head after seeing the price that my good friend Rob had paid for the services of Examplix Nexus. I have to add that it wasn't the alcohol of the previous night that forced my head to be perched in my palms, ok I will admit that I had a bit of a hangover that day but Examplix Nexus was true quality and the fact that Rob had paid barely £15 just added to my morning after the night before woe.

So when I saw that the horse was up for grabs this auction and being very partial to horse and it's ability, I have to admit I did consider a bid. But my stable plan and future development of my yard soon made me realise that I didn't want to involve myself and in some respect I'm glad I didn't as I would have probably let my heart rule rather than my wallet. Examplix is a true servant over the 1400/1600m distances and rarely fails to put in a decent effort. Westfield Gardens has secured a consistent runner who is up there with the very best that the RaceClubs.com G2 horses in his division has to offer. Is £61.30 a fair price to pay? Absolutely! There is no doubt in my mind that Simon (Westfield Gardens) will rake in the return to investment on this one. A very nice acquisition indeed!

Red Season - Socialanimal to Appleyard Estate - £56.55

If Carlsberg made fillies! A popular quote from a very successful advertising campaign. Red Season needs no introduction when it comes to success at the track and has proven over the past few seasons just how good she is. Ok, so she may be getting a little long in the tooth now but at five she still has the ability to make waves amongst the best that the filly division has to offer. Probably at her best as a two year old she raced with consistancy and will go down in %sitename % histaory as one of the best fillies to see the track. If G2 racing were in it's infancy I would be more than likely be commenting that her position in the hall of fame was assured. Will she get close to the greatest filly as depicted by the current hall of fame's most successful filly, Imperial Majesty, unlikely! That is a target that I believe will never be beat. Imperial Majesty was sporned into a world that didn't understand G2 racing as well as the knowledgable owners we compete against today. Nevertheless, Red Season is one of a few fillies that will be remembered for what she achieved during more competitive times. Appleyard Estate clearly fancied the sprinter and at a cost of £56.55 has to be deemed as a shrewd purchase. Her recent form has not lit the virtual world alight but she has two full season's of her career remaining and is far better than that, a sure fire money spinner.

The C I A - Full Force Racing to Chaos Racing - 2 Horse Package £75

Chaos Racing has forked out £37.50 for this horse and when you consider what the horse is all about then it can only lead to success and eyes alight with pound signs. A true staying colt who is very lightly raced. The evidence suggests that he is of similar mould to Muddy Pie, a classy stayer at two who hailed from my very own yard. Muddy Pie hasn't trained on as well as expected in later years but there is no reason why The C I A shouldn't. His form is exceptional when you analyse it a little deeper. In his ten graded starts to date he has failed to earn a return in just two races, just three in his entire career, two of which were on good ground. It is clear to see that the colt loves a little cut in the ground and his focus must remain on the softened surface. A lot of trainers may have passed on this one and may rue that decision as I firmly believe we will see this hardened stayer collect many WFA prizes and with his whole racing career ahead of him, bar a couple of months, the price paid seems the steal of the auction. My hat is raised to Chaos Racing for securing his services at such a premium and don't be too surprised to see this one land an end of season WCD race.

Raceclubs' new race categories enable all horses to become more competitive.

Graded Earnings Capped Races Are Here TODAY

The much anticipated Graded Capped Races for Grade 1 Low horses have made their way onto the daily race schedule as from today.

Some trainer disagreements about the 1 win eligibility requirement have also been considered. All $50 Capped races now have a ‘no win’ requirement whilst the $150 Capped races have the originally stipulated ‘1 win’ requirement.

The nitty gritty about Earnings Capped races:
- Earnings caps are based on earnings in Graded races only.
- Graded Earnings have now been added to the horse details page. Simply place your cursor on the Graded rosette.
As per ‘total earnings’, the amount is accumulated in US$ and converted to your currency. It will therefore fluctuate according to exchange rate fluctuations at the time but eligibility cap will not fluctuate as it is also recorded in US$.
- Capped races are being introduced initially as WFA races so as to attract fuller fields.
- Entry pricing is $8 for all.

Nine days of Capped racing is on the schedule for you to pick from (as below). These will be initial test races and we are thus looking for your suggestions for improvement – constructively please.

The five rookie trainers on Raceclubs you want to meet before your next race!

From Rookie To Champion....Maybe!
A view of five up and coming rookie stables

Whether you are a trainer who concentrates on G3 racers or a big fish intent on challenge domination, everyone who entertains themselves by participating at RaceClubs.com all have something in common, we all had to start somewhere. I have often preached the gospel of how important your knowledge of the game has to be to compete and play the game on a level with your peers. It is a time consuming exercise that can only be improved with patience and a willingness to learn, look and listen. This game is more complex than it can appear on the surface and without the proper investment of your time and patience can you ever expect it to be mastered. Many players jump at the chance to own a virtual nag and are instantly taken in by the potential lucrative prizes on offer and the excitement and buzz you experience when one of your own hits the line first but always remember that this game is not a jump-in opportunity to win a quick penny or two.

It's all so easy to come into the game with a bottomless pit of money and experience the thrill of competing with and against the best of the best, day in day out but there has to be far more satisfaction to graft your way to the top. Learning from your mistakes is an integral part of your journey and can help build a solid knowledge base for progression through the ranks. One thing I always say when approached by a new player is that you wont get handed all the skills neccessary to become an instant success at the track. Of course there are ways and means of obtaining great information by means of the mentorship program and your fellow community members, who are extremely forward in helping a new player out. Although these two examples are outlets that you should certainly consider, the best knowledge can be found on the site itself and more often than not in your own stable.

In the interest of the newer players and to introduce some lesser known players to the community I have selected five rookie trainers to observe and have spent a good few hours trawling through their stables, getting to know their charges and the style they play the game with. The purpose is not one of scrutiny but one of acknowledgement. To celebrate what they have achieved so far on their journey as they get to grips and accustomed to the ins and outs of day-to-day gameplay.

Jz Racing Stable : Graded Wins : 20

Of the five stables I have chosen to delve a little deeper into, Jz Racing Stable is the largest of them all, currently housing fifty horses. What I like the most about this stable is the dedication to the claimer races. Of the fifty horses that has been amassed since joining on August 3rd 2010, twenty-three of their current runners have come from claims. This is certainly the way to go when you first become a member of RaceClubs.com as it is a very reliable source of information and the general rule is to pick up an older horse that has had a lot of wins. The time trial data sourced from such horses can be regarded as gold dust in some cases and can act as a marker to base your stables future upon. Although absent of such horses I have concluded that the stable has built quite a knowledgable stance on what is required. The knowledge gained from claiming so many horses has led the stable to pick up some very well priced horses at auction. Not only is the stable hitting winners with a win percentage of 16% in graded races but it seems to be gaining confidence in his ability to seek new blood. What did interest me most about his auction purchases is his affiliation to particular stables. It seems that there is an element of trust in who he is dealing with, another good way to ensure value for money.

Black Secrets : Graded Wins : 2

This stable has taken the approach to build a stable of runners exclusively from the claimer races and predominantly within the G2 arena. This is a very good tactical approach if you are looking to step up the grades into the G1 arena. It acts as a solid approach when getting to know what is required to win a race in any given spectrum. I look on this stable to be making a quiet, yet not beyond reach, step up in grade. Given time and with some calculated claims there is evidence to suggest that the stable is coming to terms with his runners and has recently decided to take a look at some G1 runners, picking up a couple at the minimum to speculate. I very much like the patient approach this stable is taking and in just over a month since their stable opened they currently have eighteen horses to feed their fortune. One thing I did notice which stuck out like a sore thumb was a potential winner lurking. If I were to offer some advice to the yard it would be to concentrate their horse, Catch The Waves in allowance races to make good use of the low weight it will carry.

Mac Hardy : Graded Wins : 11

The place that produces the greatest horses the virtual world will see is the sales ring. It's often considered that it can sometimes be a dangerous place but without it, where would all the horses come from? It's often refreshing to see that some trainers are not put off by a dip into the unknown and this can be said of Mac Hardy. All but three of the twenty-four horses in the yard have come directly from the ring. This is a stark contrast to our previously mentioned stables who have used the claimers as their main source to obtain racers. It is clear to see that the stable want to be a part of the G1 scene as a vast proportion of their runners hail to the grade. To date the stable has scored with a 13% strike rate in graded races and when you consider that over half the yard compete at the top grade it is fair to say that it has not been a bad start to their career at all. With barely a months racing on the clock, the stable has quickly adapted and can also boast a 39% placed percentage, which on reflection is up there with the best. This stable strikes me as a fast learner and can go from strength to strength.

Oastler Stable : Graded Wins : 3

Although small in stature, the Oastler Stable is gradually finding their feet. Their recent claim of four year old colt, Throw It Down, should give them a more detailed insight into the workings of the G1 arena. This stable is not put off by having a smaller stable in comparison to others and I get the feeling that they are spending time learning the ropes. So far they have not lit up the racing world but do have a very respectable place to run ratio, currently 40%. Now that in itself suggests that the race placement is obviously correct and with a little more luck and maybe a couple more quality horses in the yard, it would be of no surprise to see the stable gradually climb the ladder of success. People tend to forget that some stables have limited budgets and constraints to work within and often it is these stumbling blocks that have to be the first hurdle to jump to progress as a trainer. Oastler Stable may be a stable who will set a very tight budget. This is a very good atribute and all stables should think about how much they can afford to stake when running their yard. The most important factor is to remain in these parameters and the rest will come naturally in time.

Bradington UK : Graded Wins : 5

The first thing that strikes you when you enter this yard is the entry of their horse, Wallet Emptier, into an allowance race first time up. The irony is in the horses name and this is exactly what will happen if this practise continued and is something that all aspiring rookie players should take note of. Unless you have a horse of supreme ability or you are purposely sand-bagging the horse to a low weight then it is never considered that an allowance race be the first visit to the track that a horse should take. This act may have been an oversight by the trainer as his handling of one of his other horses, Wotzthechances, clearly indicate the yard know exactly when an allowance race should be utilised and they should be commended. A steady approach and thought about race placement will see this stable gain strength in race numbers and wins and even though a couple of mistakes may be made along the way, always take the negative and turn it into a positive. I have a feeling that the yard is going to come good and they have shown an aptitude within the rated racing area of the game, an area that not even the most hardened of players can grasp.

Top quality auctions on Raceclubs sees great trainers getting even better horses for their money! Moletown reviews it!

The RaceClubs.com Auction Review
