We think Graham Clifford deserves a few #GoldenGlobes for his View From The Stands!

Biography: Graham is a reporter for the Irish Independent newspaper and is based in London. He presented on the Raceclubs/Getminted horse racing TV show in Britain a number of years back and is the former sports editor of the Irish Post newspaper. Also he has been a broadcast and print journalist for the last decade working in the U.K., Australia and in his native Ireland. He presents a show on local BBC radio in the South East of England and claims to have Psychic powers. He once worked as a body double for Johnny Vegas and represented Slovakia in last year’s Eurovision song contest with the song “random factor blues”!
Where have the t-shirts and baseball hats gone?

A week before Christmas and I’m seriously behind in terms of purchasing overpriced, meaningless and tacky presents for my nearest and dearest. I swear if someone came to my door and offered to sell me bottles of rain (that were wrapped up in nice shiny paper) I’d hand over the dough. At this time of year we get rid of hard cash as if holding onto it would give us some kind of skin irritation. I had banked on getting my mother-in-law a Raceclubs t-shirt and baseball cap but I don’t think they sell them anymore or at least if they do they don’t seem to be advertised on the site. It got me thinking though…what type of Raceclubs merchandise would be sought after for Christmas presents in the future? Perhaps a collection of cushions with Raceclub’s customer service staff faces on them! Or the autobiography of shotgun_Mike. Maybe a board game or top trumps card pack. If you want to jump in with your suggestions and perhaps win £10 in bonus credits check out the View from the stands competition question this week guys….oh and happy shopping!

Moletown taking a well-earned breather

After being with us for just over three years in which time he clocked up 771 competitive wins and bagged just over £25k in prize winnings the brilliant Lee from the Moletown stables is taking a well-earned rest from the game (hopefully just to re-charge the batteries). Lee has also penned some superb articles on the forums and over the years has developed excellent relationships with countless stables who have contributed to his pieces.

After making his decision to close the stable doors for a wee while he wrote “I have decided, due to time constraints, work, personal reasons and ill health, I need a break from this glorious game. It is with a heavy heart that I have come to this decision but I have to put family first. The one regret I have is that I do not have a shiny trophy against my name, not that I haven't tried...lol.”
He added “I will return in the future and of course, should I still have horses in my yard after this week’s auction. I love this game and it will be a difficult void to fill and that's why I am confident of a return.”

As for the upcoming sweepstakes competition (which Lee would normally run) – I’m not sure what’s happening with that but I’m sure Raceclubs will inform us in due course.

Enjoy the break Lee, I know you will be missed.

So where are the wedding photos?

My head hurts and I’m confused. No I haven’t been on the gin again but a particular stable has me puzzled. After taking the surprising decision to call his stable ‘Scotwedphotos’ I would have expected the profile picture of this yard to be…well a wedding photo! But no, it’s of a black beauty galloping through a lush green field. Now either that was one strange bash or it’s not a picture from the wedding! With us since October 17th of this year the Scotwedphotos stable has impressed and yesterday 2-year-old colt Tribal stormed to victory in a progress race on the turf in Hong Kong to register the yard’s 36th competitive win with £565 earned in prize money to date. Other horses at the stable include Scotwed Alliance, Scotwed Enigma, Scotwed Flash and Scotwed Prospect…I can’t figure it out, where are my anadins?

Crowd control problems at auctions

102 people (and one lama) were arrested and five injured at this weekend’s Raceclub’s auctions. The first of the new season the auctions attracted owners from far and wide with hundreds of horses up for sale. Experts were predicting that some G1 challengers would transfer for very large sums of money but at the time of going to print the list of top transfers has yet to be published. In recent days the auctions and claims thread has been inundated with owners advertising their offerings and one owner who was present at the auction told me it was one of the busiest for years. Police asked all owners to have their horse’s tts ready for inspection and a shotgun_mike was questioned by anti-terrorism police because of his possession of a firearm in his name!

Sexist but funny!

As an airplane is about to crash, a female passenger jumps up frantically and announces, "If I'm going to die, I want to die feeling like a woman."

She removes all her clothing and asks, "Is there someone on this plane who is man enough to make me feel like a woman?"

A man stands up, removes his shirt and says, "Here, iron this!".
