Graham Clifford interviews Charlie Saxon, Raceclubs.coms first millionaire jockey!

Charlie Saxon becomes Raceclubs’ first millionaire jockey

Sipping a cocktail poolside the athletic Charlie Saxon takes a break from catching the sun and looks up at me. “Yes, can I help you?” he mutters in his southern English accent. “Oh, I’m here to do the interview for the View from the Stands article” I tell him, he replies “oh yes of course Graham take a seat”. I’m here because Charlie Saxon, who many believe is from Bournemouth, has become the first jockey in the game to earn over £1million in prize money.

At last count the total prize money earned from horses the young British rider was victorious on stood at a cool £1,070,338! Compare this to the plight of dear old Jennifer Harris from Kentucky in the United States. Though she had ridden considerably less races than the talented Brit she has just earned £41,094 in her time on Raceclubs. “Is she just unlucky?” I ask Saxon, “ No she’s useless” he responds bluntly, no messing round with everyone’s favourite jockey.

If you added up the total prize money earned by the bottom 13 Raceclubs jockeys i.e. Roxana Castro (ESP), Jumana Zuabi (SAR), James Clarke (UK), Pierre Laurent (FRA), Ian Murphy (IRE), Billy Cooper (USA), Kirsten Werner (GER), Rachel Xing (HK), Alexia Bianchi (ITA), Diane Hall (UK), Marguerite Roux (FRA), Geraldine Sullivan (IRE) and Jennifer Harris (USA) - you’d get less that the total amount earned by Charlie Saxon alone.

He puffs a virtual cigar and tells me “when I get on top of a horse they feel electricity running through them”. I remind him that those choice of words are particularly unfortunate given what happened at Newbury recently and he apologizes. He might be the richest jockey in virtual racing but he’s not too big for a clip across the ear!

As we are about to continue with our interview his blackberry goes into overdrive. He answers “Ah Bigboysteve, how’s life with you?” But before he can finish his cigar Saxon is up on his feet. He answers “Yes Steve, of course Steve, I’ll be on the next virtual flight to Dubai Steve. You can count of me.” And away he runs to change for the limo that will shuttle him to Heathrow. When BigBoysteve comes calling even the best of the best jump to attention.

Charlie Saxon always comes first on Raceclubs.com
