Win Over £430 In The Athletics Champs!

The 13th World Championships in Athletics will be held in 2011 in Daegu, South Korea.

Located in the heart of the southeastern region of the Korean Peninsula, Daegu is a major transportation hub for the country with its convenient transportation networks connecting to every city in Korea within two hours. Seven expressways, the high speed Korean Express Train (KTX), an international airport, and an hour's drive to the harbour makes Daegu an attractive major transportation hub.

Daegu has chosen 'Dream, Passion, and Challenge' as its ideals to pursue with the world. We believe that 'Dream' would help unite the world into one global community, where national borders and cultural differences wil be overcome by 'Passion', which would develop camaraderie within the IAAF Family. It is out 'Challenge' to prevail over human limitations and inspire future generations of champions with our ideals.
Sprint Together for Tomorrow For these noble aspirations, we decided that the slogan, 'Sprint Together for Tomorrow' would capture the competitive spirit and sense of solidarity within the IAAF Family.

The logo of the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 was launched on 27 July 2009 and it features the new IAAF competition logo and the LOC's local element. It is a perfect amalgamation of the Oriental Yin-Yang philosophy and represents the harmony between East and West. The swirling arrows of the local element capture the energy of the wind and the colours represent the vibrancy of the 'Colorful Daegu' brand. The natural yet energetic Oriental-style calligraphy strokes of an athlete crossing the Finish Line embody Daegu's passion and vision to stride ahead of the competition.

The Official Mascot was launched on 14 April 2010, on the occasion of the '500 Days to Go' event. It is derived from the Sapsal-gae, an indigenous canine breed that originated from Daegu and its regions, which is recognised as 'Natural Monument No. 368' in Korea. The mascot symbolises good fortune, and its warm and happy features represent a warm welcome to the host city.

The Official Poster was launched on 14 April 2010, on the occasion of the '500 Days to Go' event. The 'Colorful Daegu' brand is captured by the harmony of colours in the poster. The ribbon drifting away after the athlete has crossed the Finish Line symbolises the realisation of a 'Dream' and 'Passion'.
