Race Clubs - Virtual Horse Racing
Loona Park
I have been looking for race clubs my whole life, I have always loved horse racing and I even used to work as a stable hand, riding track work and like for Mr Colin S Hayes at Angaston South Australia, father of David Hayes legendary trainers in Australia. I tried my luck at training, and I had one horse I brought for $500.00, this horse won a country race by nine lengths and was placed on a couple of other occasions, I believed I did a pretty good job with my horse, and although he was no champion, he tried his hardest every time.
I joined Race Clubs two and a half seasons ago, believing I could train and make a living from virtual racing, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs and I have made many mistakes, believing my horses could compete with the most experience trainers straight away was my first mistake.
TT Charts whilst they too are only a guide, I was racing my horses at the distances which gave me the best lengths, but i found out very quickly and after a few big loses, that the charts can be very confusing for some, because my horses where hitting massive time at 2850m, I presumed that’s where they should be racing.
My best horse Sing For Supper is a champion horse, whilst he hits challenge times from 1000m to 2200m on Fast Going, the times he hits a way above that shown on all the guides, then I have had these horses that hit just above the challenge times, at 2200m to 2800m and to my amazement these horse are really best raced over 1400m to 1600m.
I am finding that fillies can bring you the best results as a beginner, these horses run truer to the charts than the colts, my reasoning for this is based on the race performance of the fillies in my stable, and the way I started in virtual racing, as I used the TT charts and the best lengths to place my horses in races.
My dream is to become like shotgun mike, divine diva stables and the many other successful stables competing on race clubs, but it solely comes down to my knowledge over time and study, I see a lot of trainers complaining about bad results, bad random (jockey) and the like, but I put this down to bad horses placement.
Trainers on race clubs need to find the horse’s best distance, and the horse’s best going. Trainers then need to place horses in their correct races, patients is a virtue wait for these races don’t just place your horse in the race because it has a full field or value, because the odds are you will get a bad random jockey and the horse will be beaten by 6 lengths or so, yes it’s hard to find a horse’s innate ability just on the TT charts but it does give you a little guidance.
Starting up a stable can be costly, especially early on, start small don’t worry about bonuses and aim for consistency, To all knew trainers wishing to enter Virtual Horses Racing here is a little tip, Go to the markets and pay the 20cents, to look at the TT of 2 year old unraced horses, look at all levels and try and find the highest TT over each grade and distance, you will soon learn what to expect or what you will be up against when you start your stable, spend $10 - $20 just looking around save the TT to computer and study before you purchase.
Good Luck to you all
