The renewal of The Nunthorpe will see twelve of last season’s juvenile sprint fillies go head to head once more in this very competitive race. Last seasons sprint champion, Miss General, is present again in this final. All eyes will be on the grey from the Burkveen Racing yard as she tries to become a RaceClubs.com legend and add to the Juvenile glory of laThe future of horse racing is going online at www.raceclubs.com

st season and complete a memorable sprint double. It appears on form that she will struggle over this extended trip of 1400m and may not be the force she proved to be last term. The horses that made a place last season will again put the pedal to the floor in attempting to improve on last season. Snowbird, Sunline (NZ) and Asianova overdose have all contested and gained success over the 1400m trip, Snowbird only managing a maiden at the distance but has placed on several occasions in qualifying. This may suggest that like Miss General will not be as effective over a longer trip. On the flipside, Sunline (NZ) and Asianova Overdose have excelled at the trip. Both recording wins in qualifiers. The latter, who heads a strong Shotgun Mike assault at the title will be looking to the skies for a little rain and if the going comes up trumps can be a force to be reckoned with in the race.

The beauty of this race is that it is run under level weight conditions. Two horses that have benefited from this are Eternal Life and Number 125. With both very much involved in most if not all qualifying races it was no surprise to see the pair at the head of the standings. Last season they came under extreme weight penalties and were never a factor in the juvenile sprint final. Oh, how this season will be different! Neither of the charges will be too disappointed with the going that comes up as they have solid form to view on all underfoot conditions. It will be very interesting if either of them can get off to a good start and put themselves in the race early and they have to be the pair that will be feared most.

Two of this season’s finalist, The Path Of Fire and Jane Fonda were not present as finalists for last seasons juvenile but have edged their way into the final fourteen this term. Victor Consortio's entry may be more suited by a mile and although has form to boot at this trip she may lack the turn of foot necessary to go with the best of them. Jane Fonda found herself into the Shotgun Mike yard by virtue of a mid season auction. The price paid may have been a fraction of her true worth on that occasion as she seems likely to recoup the outlay in time. Whether or not she can figure prominent here is to be seen. Some decent efforts at the track also indicate that a mile may be her best. Both trainers are sure to have their horse bang’ on for the race, so don't be too surprised if these words are proved to have flaws.

Of the rest, will we see anything that contested last season improve significantly on that running to bring home the prize. Heinz will have two representatives in the form of Kaleidoscope and Tornado Of Death. Both fillies were unable to get in a blow when in such high company last season and again may find a couple to test them but neither of them are not without their chance. The Outsiders will again bring the curiosity to proceedings when their fillies Curiosity Kills and namesake Curiosita Uccide attempt to step up on last years effort. Midfield and not in the reckoning in the juvenile, both will be out to improve on that and show capable ability at the trip. It just remains to be seen whether the pair can go the clip as both seem more astute at longer trips. Queen Of Sheba out of the Queen Bee stable is the second string in this race and likely to be nearer last than first and may act as a pacemaker for the stable's first hope, Snowbird.

What The Trainers Say...

......"Snowbird is a top filly who is at her best on Good ground. She would be rated with the best of them on good going. With several top sprinters in this race the winner will need a good random. Queen Of Sheba is a 1400m horse who is a solid performer without reaching the ability of her stable mate. She is considered to be an outsider for this final.”......Queen Bee
