The Juvenile Classic has always been the place for the stars of the future to shine in their fledgling careers. Over the three day festival of virtual champions, it is this race along with it’s' filly equivalent that boasts the biggest prize pool. Some £3050 is up for grabs and the filed this season looks full of quality. Proving yourself at juvenile level is a stepping stone to bigger and better things and no horse as proved himself more this season than Darley Arabian. Coming fresh off the back of a Monthly Challenge Final victory in which he carried an immense 128lbs to victory. The colt has notched up more prize money this month than any other horse on the site and could he continue to add to his season tally in this race? The versatile colt looks to be better suited to next seasons Derby distance of 2200m and with the handicap of weight in a strong field he can only hope for a good run, at best!

The Juvenile Classic and Staying distances this season have produced some very distinguished horses to say the least. El Legandario, Gentleman Earl and Randwick all look capable of filling the first three positions in the race. The latter two have already proved their championship credentials by taking down a seasonal monthly title. El Legendario didn't get the run of the race in Randwick's victory charge and despite the favourite in that race will come here all guns blazing in relish of a turn in the tables. Shotgun Mike also saddles Soulquake System and Subutteo Legend in the race. Soulquake System is a force to be reckoned with over the 2400m trip but a victory in his last qualifier has added a further two pounds in the saddle, questioning whether that is 2lbs too much for the race. Subutteo Legend on the other hand has no such worries coming to the race on the minimum but will probably be the weakest of the trio come race day.

Dusk Til Dawn and Evolving Time make interesting reading on form. Dusk Til Dawn has already had his share of top flight racing this season, contesting two monthly finals, the best of which was runner-up in the Gentleman Earl monthly. It is evident that on form, the horse will enjoy this distance and will be a major player. Evolving time looks more of a pace setter than championship contender and not quite out of the same mould as the other too stable representatives. Slaughtered has gone about his business this season without causing too many ripples. The Unconte Stable trained colt will be hoping he doesn't live up to his name and get "Slaughtered" by this field. Although a handy rails position and the booking of a good jockey may put him in the mix. It looks as though Napoleonic Wars has a slight upper hand on this one by the form, having scored a win back in June. WRS Stables paid a handsome fee for this one at auction and with an eye on this race cannot be left out of the equation.

Vom Da Gash was another who went for a tidy price at the sales. 2400m looks ideal for this colt and his trainer will hope that the rain stays away for him to mount a serious assault at the championship. Of the others, Maroon Spirit will absolutely relish the trip and is a serious player. The Price Racing yard has experienced some great successes in recent times and Maroon Spirit puts them in with a chance of recording another championship victory. His chances in the race is dependant on the rain coming and if that is the case look out for this one at the finish. Quai Two Star looks a little out of his depth amongst such notable excellence but to his credit did record a full field win during the series. That win may not be a true reflection of how others will perform here but nevertheless, a win is a win!

What The Trainers Say...

......"Maroon spirit was a lucky late season purchase whose trials suggest he's perfect for a race like this, loves the 2400 and does very nice 2850 numbers as well but will carry a 2lb penalty here making this a tough assignment for him against the likes of some of these, hoping for yielding and a top jockey to retain the title from last season ”......Price Racing
